Wests Tigers Secure Key Player with Long-Term Contract
The Wests Tigers have made a significant move by securing their star fullback, Jahream Bula, with a long-term contract extension. The club managed to convince the talented player to sign a deal that will keep him with the team until the end of 2030.
A clause in Bula’s previous contract was set to expire, which would have allowed other clubs to approach him. It is reported that several teams were interested in his services. However, the Tigers were able to activate an option for next year worth $900,000. According to reports from The Sydney Morning Herald, Bula’s new four-year contract is valued at over $1 million per season.
A Rising Star in the NRL
The 24-year-old has quickly become one of the most promising young fullbacks in the game since making his NRL debut in 2023. He has represented Fiji on six occasions and also has Samoan and Indigenous Australian heritage. Bula was born in Auckland but moved to Australia when he was 13 years old.
In a statement released by the club on Tuesday morning, Bula expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue with the Tigers for the next four seasons. “The culture and connection that we have as a group is special, and I’m excited to be part of what we’re building,” he said. “I love being here and I’m looking forward to growing my game under Benji (Marshall) and helping bring the club success.”
Key Re-Signing for the Tigers
Bula is one of the key re-signing targets for the Tigers. His decision to stay with the team comes after the recent departure of Jarome Luai, who signed with Papua New Guinea. This move frees up $1.2 million on the club’s salary cap for the 2028 and 2029 seasons.
Bula joins Taylan May and Terrell May in extending their contracts with the Tigers. The club’s coach, Benji Marshall, expressed his excitement about landing Bula’s signature. “He’s humble, hard-working and a great character to have around,” Marshall said. “I’ve really enjoyed seeing him grow in confidence and have great belief in what he can bring us over the next four years.”
Strong Performance Under Marshall
Under Marshall’s guidance, the Tigers are experiencing a resurgence. The team currently sits fifth on the ladder with five wins from nine games this season. Despite this positive performance, Bula is currently sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
A Bright Future for the Tigers
With Bula’s commitment secured, the Tigers are well-positioned to build on their current success. His presence on the field is expected to contribute significantly to the team’s future achievements. As the club continues to strengthen its roster, fans can look forward to seeing Bula play a pivotal role in the coming seasons.
