Widespread Food Recall Due to Bacterial Contamination
A significant number of chicken and bacon pizzas, along with various snack items, have been recalled due to a potential bacterial contamination. This recall includes products from major retailers such as Walmart and Aldi, as well as local stores. The affected items range from pork rinds to breakfast pizzas, and they have been sold nationwide.
Health officials have issued an alert, warning that the products may have been contaminated with salmonella. This contamination is linked to dry milk powder that was previously recalled for similar issues. As a result, these products are now considered unsafe for consumption.
The foods in question have been sold under several brand names, including Great Value and Mama Cozzi’s. They carry sell-by dates up to November this year, which means some products may still be on shelves or in freezers. Although no illnesses have been reported yet, health authorities are urging caution.
Salmonella infections can cause a range of symptoms, including diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever. These symptoms typically appear within six hours to six days after infection. While healthy adults usually recover within a week, vulnerable individuals—such as infants and the elderly—may experience severe complications. These can include hospitalization due to dehydration, which can be life-threatening if not treated promptly.
Anyone who has purchased these products is strongly advised not to eat them and to dispose of them immediately.

In addition to discarding the items, consumers are encouraged to return the products to the store for a full refund. Businesses and restaurants that may have bought these products are also being informed to either throw them out or return them for a refund.
Individuals with questions about food safety or those experiencing symptoms are urged to contact their local health provider. This step is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment.
It remains unclear how many products were affected or when they were placed on freezer shelves. Among the seven products in the recall, two came from Walmart. These were its Great Value Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza and Great Value Stuffed Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza.
Two other products were from Aldi, specifically its Mama Cozzi’s Biscuit Crust Sausage and Cheese Breakfast Pizza and Mama Cozzi’s Biscuit Crust Cooked Pork Belly Crumbles, Cooked Bacon Topping, Pepper and Onion Breakfast Pizza. Two more items were from the seller Pork King Good, namely its Sour Cream and Onion Pork Rinds and Party Size Sour Cream and Onion Pork Rinds. There was also one product from Culinary Circle: its Ultra Thin Crust Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza.
Full lot numbers for the affected products have been published on the FDA’s website. Health officials from the Food Safety and Inspection Service, who issued the recall, have indicated that more products may be added to the list in the future.
Diagnosing a salmonella infection typically involves a lab test of stool samples. Treatment often includes antibiotics, which can help clear the infection. According to the CDC, salmonella causes approximately 1.35 million infections, 26,500 hospitalizations, and 420 deaths in the United States each year. This highlights the importance of taking food safety seriously and following recall instructions carefully.
