Key Players Out for Sydney
Sydney’s star player, Charlie Curnow, is set to miss Saturday’s match against North Melbourne due to an abdominal issue. Fellow recruit Jai Serong is also unavailable, as he is dealing with a tight hamstring. Sydney coach Dean Cox confirmed the news, stating that both players are expected to be back in action next week.
“Charlie Curnow won’t play. He’s got an abdominal issue that we need to work through,” Cox said. “Serong’s hamstring is a little bit tight. So, he’s going to fall too short to train today. So, he won’t be available. They’ll both be very short-term. That’s what we know. If it’s just this week, hopefully that’s the case, but we expect them hopefully back next week.”
Essendon Faces Tough Decisions
Meanwhile, Essendon key defender Ben McKay is under pressure and may be dropped from the team this week. The Victorian club has faced intense scrutiny, with fans giving him negative reactions and urging coach Brad Scott to make the tough decision. The move is expected to happen as Essendon prepares to face GWS, who have a strong forward line led by Aaron Cadman and Jake Stringer.
Collingwood Set for Strong Return
Collingwood will be celebrating the return of club legend Scott Pendlebury on Saturday. He will take the field against Geelong, where he will equal the V/AFL games record. Pendlebury was rested last week but is now fit to play. Alongside him, Jeremy Howe and Beau McCreery will also be available for the match.
Ruckman Darcy Cameron has passed his fitness tests and is ready to play. He sustained an ankle injury in the previous game but showed good movement during training on Thursday. Cameron will partner with Oscar Steene in the ruck.
Veteran Player Returns
Veteran Steele Sidebottom has been cleared to play after a hand injury. He will be a key addition to the team this weekend, bringing experience and leadership to the side. His return is a positive boost for the Pies as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
