Sam Pang confirms Logies buzz

Sam Pang Steps Down as Logies Host

Comedian Sam Pang has confirmed he will not be returning to host the Logies in August. “I’ve had three great years, and it was wonderful, but I’m just not going to do it this year,” he said.

Pang revealed he was approached by Seven to host the 66th awards on Sunday, August 16, but he politely declined. “It was very amicable,” said Pang. “I’m well aware I may never do it again, and whoever does it I’m sure will do a great job, but I just thought three was a nice number.”

Pang’s three-year stint delivered big ratings for Seven, with the 2025 broadcast averaging 1.43 million viewers, the highest number since 2012. The comedian was widely praised for his work on the awards show, which returned to featuring an MC after relying on a roster of presenters.

Pang’s tenure also marked the first time the awards were hosted by a non-white male. “Let’s be honest, it’s just great to have an Asian on Channel Seven who isn’t trying to smuggle live birds through border security,” Pang said during his opening monologue in 2023.

As for who he would like to see host the awards, Pang, who is starring in the ABC’s upcoming comedy Ground Up later this month, said he’d love to see a double act such as comedians Kitty Flanagan and Anne Edmonds take on the job. “Or there’s lots of people that could do it, and I’m sure they’ll find a great one.”

Changes at the Logies This Year

A new host is not the only change at the Logies this year, with Eureka Productions taking over from ITV Studios as producer. There has also been a change to the judging criteria, after feedback on last year’s event. An awards venue has also yet to be publicly confirmed.

Sydney has hosted the awards at the Star for the last three years. It had previously been on the Gold Coast (2018–2022) and before that, Melbourne. The move to Sydney came when Seven replaced Nine as the awards’ broadcaster.

With no hosting duties ahead, Pang said he’ll be happy enough watching from the audience. “I’ll just get to sit at the table and enjoy it,” he said. “If any of the shows I’m on are nominated … and I’ll be able to enjoy the night from a different angle.”

Seven have been contacted for comment.
