Piers Morgan’s Response to Criticism Over Arsenal Title Celebrations
Piers Morgan has publicly addressed the backlash from some Arsenal fans following his appearance on the pitch during the club’s Premier League title celebrations. The controversy came after the team lifted the trophy in front of 3,000 traveling supporters following a 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Mikel Arteta’s side secured the title with a strong performance, and several high-profile Arsenal supporters were present at the match. Among them were actors such as Jake Wood from Eastenders, comedian Jack Whitehall, and Adrian Dunbar from Line of Duty.
Morgan, along with his sons Bertie, Stanley, and Spencer, was also in attendance for Arsenal’s final game of the season. They were granted access to the pitch to celebrate with the players and manager Arteta, which sparked criticism from some fans.
A History of Controversy
The backlash stems from Morgan’s past comments about Arsenal, including his call for Arteta to be sacked in 2022. Despite this, Morgan has now defended his presence at the event, explaining that he had purchased tickets for Crystal Palace’s hospitality suite in March, which gave him access to the celebrations.
One fan expressed their frustration on X, questioning why Morgan and his family were allowed on the pitch. They wrote: “Why was Piers Morgan & his clan on the pitch at Selhurst [Park]? Nowt worse than celebrity fans muscling in on things. Especially one who called for Arteta’s head on several occasions in the early years.”
In response, Morgan clarified that he had bought four tickets in advance, anticipating the significance of the day. He stated: “Maybe because I had the foresight to buy 4 tickets at the start of March when I had a feeling it might be a momentous day for the club I’ve supported for 55 years. As for Arteta, he proved me and a lot of people wrong, and I couldn’t be happier about it.”

Clarifying His Involvement
Morgan provided further details in a separate post, stating that he paid full price for four tickets to Crystal Palace’s 2010 Club hospitality suite. Each ticket cost £750 plus VAT. He added that he was then invited into the boardroom and given the opportunity to be on the pitch for the trophy-lift.
He continued: “We feel very lucky. Thanks @CPFC.”
In response to another fan’s comment, Morgan emphasized that the tickets were available to anyone and that he had paid full price. He also highlighted his long-term support for the club, mentioning that he purchases four season tickets each year and attends every Arsenal game when in England. When abroad, he watches all matches.
“This qualifies me as a proper fan?” he asked.

A Meeting with the Owner
Following the celebrations, Morgan was seen having a drink with Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke. This encounter further fueled discussions about his involvement with the club.
