KTM 390 Adventure: Price, Speed, Seat Height & Essentials

Engine, Suspension and What the Numbers Actually Mean

The KTM 390 Adventure is powered by a new 349.32cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 40.93 hp at 8,600 rpm and 33.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. This engine, known as the LC4c unit, is a reworked version of the one found in the 390 Duke. It features a DOHC (Dual Overhead Cam) setup and a 4-stroke configuration. The cylinder head has been redesigned to reduce weight, while the airbox has been modified to position the engine higher within the frame, improving ground clearance.

The underbelly exhaust system is not just for aesthetics; it reduces the overall weight by 2 kg compared to a conventional side-mounted setup. It also shifts the mass closer to the bike’s center, which enhances handling, especially when riding off-road. An engine protection pan is included as standard on all variants.

Ground clearance measures 237mm, which is among the highest in its segment. The suspension is fully adjustable at both ends, offering 200mm of travel upfront and 205mm at the rear. Riders can adjust compression and rebound settings based on terrain or personal preference. The front wheel is 19 inches, while the rear is 17 inches. The top variant comes with tubeless spoke rims, a rare feature at this price point from most competitors. The fuel tank holds 14.5 litres, and the bike can reach a top speed of approximately 160–166 km/h.

Electronics, Features and What You Get Standard

What truly sets the KTM 390 Adventure apart is its advanced electronics package. It includes three ride modes — Street, Rain, and Off-road — managed through Motorcycle Traction Control. Cruise control is also standard, a feature uncommon in this price range. The braking system features dual-channel ABS with an Off-road mode that allows riders to disengage the rear ABS for better control on dirt and gravel. Cornering ABS is available on the standard variant.

Additional features include a Quickshifter+ for clutchless upshifts, a ride-by-wire electronic throttle, and a 5-inch full-colour TFT display that adjusts for ambient light. The display connects via Bluetooth to the KTM app, providing turn-by-turn navigation, call notifications, and music controls. All lighting components are LED, ensuring visibility and efficiency.

Variants, Pricing and How It Stacks Up Against Rivals

In India, the KTM 390 Adventure is available in two main variants. The standard model offers a comprehensive package, including cornering MTC, Quickshifter+, cruise control, cornering ABS, off-road ABS, and tubeless spoke wheels. The 390 Adventure X, on the other hand, is more highway-oriented. It retains off-road ABS, Quickshifter+, and the TFT display but swaps spoke wheels for tubeless alloy rims and removes some of the more advanced off-road electronics.

Pricing starts at Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level variant and goes up to Rs 3.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the fully-loaded model. The bike is available in two colours: Electronic Orange and Ceramic White. It competes directly with models such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, BMW F 450 GS, Suzuki V-Strom SX, and Triumph Scrambler 400X.
