Peter Claffey on the Isolation of Filming ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Season 2

Peter Claffey Reflects on the Challenges of Filming ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Season 2

Peter Claffey is preparing to return to Westeros, but the journey has not been as straightforward as fans might expect. As HBO continues work on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2, the actor recently reflected on his experience filming the new episodes. The actor revealed that this chapter has presented a very different challenge compared to the first season. This is an intriguing glimpse into what lies ahead for Ser Duncan the Tall. While the upcoming season adapts Claffey’s favorite Dunk and Egg story, the actor admitted that bringing it to life has sometimes felt surprisingly isolating.

While discussing the upcoming season with Variety, Claffey admitted that filming has felt very different compared to the first installment. The actor explained that Dunk’s storyline changes significantly in the next chapter, which affected his experience on set as well.

A Unique Storyline Brings New Challenges

“It feels a little bit more difficult for some reason. It’s like Dunk spends a lot of time on his own. It’s been a little bit isolating at times. But it’s my favourite story of the three novellas as well, so it’s so good to actually bring it to life.”

The comments come as HBO continues production on Season 2, which adapts George R.R. Martin’s novella The Sworn Sword. The story follows Dunk and Egg after Season 1 and finds them in the drought-stricken Reach, where they become caught in a growing conflict between Ser Eustace Osgrey and Lady Rohanne Webber.

Dexter Sol Ansell Teases More Action for Egg in Season 2

While Peter Claffey has been discussing Dunk’s challenges in the upcoming season, co-star Dexter Sol Ansell has been dropping hints about what lies ahead for Egg. The young actor recently revealed that viewers can expect to see a more active side of the future king when A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms returns.

When asked what he was most excited for fans to see, Dexter gave a simple but intriguing answer: “The action.” He then expanded on the tease, saying, “I’ve got a bit more action, and I’m really excited for everyone to see it.” The comment suggests that Egg may play a bigger role in the story’s physical conflicts instead of simply accompanying Dunk on his travels.

Preparing for the Action Scenes

The actor also shed some light on the preparation required for those scenes. When asked whether he spends time learning choreography and other skills behind the scenes, Dexter replied, “Yeah. We’ve got some great, great teams, and they’re all absolutely amazing, and it’s going good.”

Dexter’s tease makes even more sense when considering the story being adapted. Season 2 will soon pull them into a bitter dispute over land and water in the drought-stricken Reach. With Ser Eustace battling his powerful neighbor Lady Rohanne Webber and Dunk becoming entangled in the conflict, Egg may find himself drawn deeper into the dangers and political tensions surrounding them.
