Fans demand Laurie Daley’s urgent changes for Origin 2 as Panthers stars warn players

Casey McLean’s Stellar Performance Sparks Calls for Origin Selection

NSW Blues fans are making their voices heard, urging Laurie Daley to include Casey McLean in the starting side for State of Origin Game 2. The Panthers star has been putting on a show with his performances, and his latest display against the Warriors has only added to the pressure on the selectors.

McLean came off the bench in Game 1 after Tolu Koula was ruled out due to a concussion. He made an immediate impact, taking several impressive catches under high balls and even making a try-saving tackle. His performance was so strong that it reminded fans why he was given a chance at just 21 years old in the Origin arena. In the Panthers’ 20-18 win over the Warriors, McLean scored both of the team’s opening tries, showcasing his ability to deliver when it matters most.

McLean continued to impress in the following match, offering an aerial threat and showing his value as a key player for the Panthers. His efforts have not gone unnoticed by fans, who believe he deserves a spot in the NSW Blues lineup for Game 2.

Selection Dilemmas for the Blues

Despite McLean’s strong form, there are still some selection issues that Daley needs to address. Stephen Crichton struggled in the first half of the game against the Maroons and is currently out of form with the Bulldogs. Kotoni Staggs had a decent debut but was anonymous in the Broncos’ loss to the Dragons. Brian To’o had his worst night in a Blues jersey, but he still has enough credibility to retain his position on the wing.

Tolu Koula will not be available for Game 2 unless selected, as he is dealing with a concussion sustained in the first game. Fans are calling on Daley to make the right decision, especially after the Blues were outplayed for the first 56 minutes of the contest.

Dylan Edwards Shines Despite Being Left Out

Another player who stood out was Dylan Edwards. The former Blues fullback was snubbed for James Tedesco in the opening game, which was a blow for the Penrith star. However, Edwards responded with an energetic effort, finishing with 228 running metres, one try assist, and four tackle breaks. His tackle to stop a try in the second half potentially saved the game for the Panthers.

Matty Johns suggested that Tedesco’s try at the end may have saved him from selection uncertainty heading into Game 2. But Edwards’ performance has put more pressure on Tedesco, with many fans believing he should be recalled to give the Blues a different edge after a mixed Game 1 performance.

Fan Pressure Mounts for Immediate Changes

Speaking on SEN Radio, Jimmy Smith and Panthers legend Greg Alexander praised McLean and questioned whether he should be selected in the starting side for the Blues. With Latrell Mitchell ruled out for Game 2, the conversation around potential changes has intensified.

Smith said: “Casey McLean, absolutely spectacular. And putting a very strong case forward of him being selected in the starting side for NSW.” He also asked if Stephen Crichton should be placed on the back of what McLean is doing.

Alexander questioned whether Koula is an automatic selection, asking, “Does Tolu Koula come straight back into the side because he won’t play…without a game?” Fans agree and are demanding Daley to make the call for the Blues.
