Taylor Swift’s New Single for Toy Story 5 Confirmed
After months of speculation, Taylor Swift has finally confirmed the rumors that have been circulating online. The singer, known for her role in the Life of a Showgirl, is set to release a new single titled I Knew It, I Knew You for Pixar’s latest film, Toy Story 5. This announcement came through an Instagram post today, following days of cryptic clues scattered across the internet and around the globe.
“It’s a Toy Story 🤠,” the post begins. “You knew it! My new original song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will be yours on June 5th.”
Swift, who has a deep love for numerology, made sure the release date was perfectly aligned with the number 5. The single for Toy Story 5 is coming out on the fifth day of the sixth month, a detail that fans are already celebrating.
In her post, Swift shared a heartfelt message about the original Toy Story film. “I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5-year-old kid watching the first Toy Story movie,” she wrote. “I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?”
Swift also posted a photo of herself in the grass with tulips around her, starring directly at the camera. The image has quickly become a favorite among fans.
The track was produced by Swift’s long-time friend and collaborator, Jack Antonoff. Meanwhile, Toy Story 5 director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton praised the single, calling it “incredibly meaningful.” He added, “Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable. The song is so deeply connected to ‘Toy Story.’ So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”
Teasers and Hidden Messages
Hours before the official announcement, Taylor Swift’s official website featured a visual of the Toy Story character Jessie dancing on a roof. This was accompanied by a billboard that closely resembled the ones popping up globally this week. These billboards featured 13 animated clouds and the initials TS, in the classic Toy Story font. Fans quickly recognized the connection, as TS stands for both Taylor Swift and Toy Story.
Earlier in the week, Swift also changed the background of the digital version of her album 1989 to feature 13 clouds instead of the original birds. This subtle change was another hint towards the upcoming release.
Pixar also joined in on the fun, posting a video of Jessie dancing on Instagram with the caption: “She’s making those moves up as she goes,” referencing Swift’s hit song “Shake It Off.” The move was seen as a clever nod to the artist’s previous work.
What to Expect from Toy Story 5
Toy Story 5 will see the original gang, including Buzz, Woody, and Jessie, facing off against technology. According to the film’s synopsis on the Pixar website, “The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, and this time it’s Toy meets Tech. Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they’re introduced to what kids are obsessed with today—electronics!”
Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of I Knew It, I Knew You on June 5th. With Taylor Swift’s involvement, the film is expected to be a hit, blending her musical talent with the beloved Toy Story franchise.
As the countdown to the release continues, the anticipation is building. With all the hints, teasers, and behind-the-scenes details, it’s clear that Toy Story 5 is shaping up to be a memorable addition to the series.
