The latest episode of Married At First Sight (MAFS) has left viewers stunned, with the most tumultuous and explosive dinner party in the show’s history unfolding before our eyes. From Alissa and Stella bearing the brunt of Brook’s harsh criticisms to Gia’s unrestrained laughter and Bec’s forceful slamming of her hand on the table, the nation was left questioning not only the contestants’ behaviour but also the broadcast of such confrontational scenes.
Now, as the Sunday night Commitment Ceremony airs, the so-called “mean girls” of the experiment are forced to confront the experts’ judgment – and it’s safe to say, the experts are far from impressed.
Facing the Experts: Apologies and Accountability
The first couple to face the expert panel were Alissa and David. A visibly distressed Alissa expressed her profound disappointment with how she was treated at the dinner party. “I’m just pretty disgusted,” she confessed to the experts. “It was toxic behaviour. Last night was really hurtful, like, really disgusting, disrespectful behaviour, and I am just gutted.”
While Brook appeared unmoved by Alissa’s sentiments on the couch, Gia stepped forward to offer an apology to the entire group. “Yesterday, my behaviour was not okay,” she stated. “I especially want to focus on Alissa and David though, because I came at you, and I didn’t have enough information to go off. I really want you to know that I am genuinely sorry.”

Speaking candidly, Gia later explained that her actions stemmed from a complex social dynamic within the experiment. “We probably did go a bit hard on her,” Gia admitted. “Looking back now, I think we did go a bit hard on her that night, but you know, we would try. Like, I just started being friends with Bec, and Brooke was friends with Bec already, so I was in this weird moment of like, ‘Okay, I’ve just heard all this stuff about you’ from Bec.”
Gia elaborated on her attempts to forge a friendship with Bec, which led her to “go hard” in support of her. “And that’s what we did, and now I look at it and I’m like, oh, that was probably not a good idea,” Gia continued. “We definitely had moments that we were a little bit mean girl, and we probably should have reined it in a bit.”

Brook’s Apology and Departure
When it was Brook’s turn to address the experts, she also offered an apology. However, it did not land as well as Gia’s, particularly after she abruptly left the Commitment Ceremony halfway through, leaving her partner Chris to face the couch alone.
“She’s avoiding consequences,” Mel, one of the experts, whispered to Alessandra, another expert. Alessandra concurred, stating, “It invalidates the entire apology and accountability. True colours.”

Following the airing of the dinner party, Brook took to Instagram to post a further apology. “Last night and the past few episodes of Married At First Sight was an extremely difficult watch,” she wrote. “What you saw last night was the worst version of myself, and unfortunately Alissa and Stella were on the receiving end of that. I want to firstly, sincerely apologise to Alissa and Stella for my words and the hurt that I have caused. My actions were appalling and not at all a reflection of the kindness and respect that you both deserve, and I hope in time you can forgive me. I am truly sorry.”
Brook extended her apologies to the other couples in the experiment and stressed that bullying should “never be condoned.”
“This Dinner Party was filmed in August last year, and since then, I have had time to reflect and learn from my actions,” she continued in her statement. “This behaviour is not a reflection of who I am at my core, and I hope that Australia will one day see this. I know trust is rebuilt through actions, not just words, and I will continue doing the work to be better. I’m looking forward to moving on with my life with more kindness and hope that those watching will choose to do the same.”

Life After the Experiment
In a surprising turn of events since the show was filmed, Brook is now engaged to her ex-partner, Harry, and is pregnant. While her conduct on the show was undoubtedly regrettable, it’s crucial to remember that she is a human being with feelings. There is absolutely no justification for directing online hate and vitriol towards anyone.
