Forrestania Locks In $58.5m Lake Johnston CIL Plant Deal

Forrestania Resources (ASX:FRS) is set to significantly boost its gold production capabilities with a strategic agreement valued at up to $58.5 million. The company has entered into a heads of agreement with Polaris Engineering Services, a move that will drive the transformation of the Lake Johnston processing facility in Western Australia. This development marks a pivotal moment for Forrestania as it pivots towards becoming a substantial gold producer.

Revitalising Lake Johnston: From Nickel to Gold

The Lake Johnston processing plant, acquired by Forrestania in November 2025, is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul. Originally designed for nickel processing, the facility is being meticulously re-engineered to become a dedicated gold production hub. This ambitious transformation is being led by Polaris Engineering Services, in collaboration with Mincore, a leading design partner. The expanded scope of work includes the construction of a new carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit and a broader refurbishment of the existing plant infrastructure.

Once the CIL circuit is fully operational, the Lake Johnston facility is projected to achieve a significant throughput capacity of approximately 3.2 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa). This substantial capacity is crucial for Forrestania’s growth strategy, enabling it to process its own resources and potentially accommodate third-party ore sources.

A Defining Step Towards Gold Production

David Geraghty, Chairman of Forrestania Resources, highlighted the significance of this heads of agreement, describing it as the “next stage in the staged refurbishment and recommissioning” of the Lake Johnston facility. He expressed his confidence to shareholders, stating, “This agreement represents a defining step in establishing Lake Johnston as a production-ready gold processing hub.”

Geraghty elaborated on the collaborative efforts, noting the months of close work with Polaris. “We have worked closely with Polaris for months through early engagement, and this expanded scope reflects the strength of the relationship,” he said. This partnership underscores a structured and capital-efficient approach to development, building upon the previously announced refurbishment of the crushing circuit.

The strategic awarding of discrete development packages is central to Forrestania’s plan. By integrating these components, the company aims to establish a fully integrated gold processing facility, providing the essential infrastructure required to transition effectively into gold production.

Building Core Infrastructure for Long-Term Success

Forrestania is actively and rapidly assembling the core infrastructure necessary for its transition into a gold producer. Mr. Geraghty emphasised the long-term vision for the Lake Johnston plant: “Importantly, the scale and design of the plant provide a long-life processing solution capable of supporting both internal resources and potential third-party ore sources.” This foresight ensures that the investment in the facility will yield benefits for years to come, offering flexibility and scalability.

The commissioning of the CIL circuit is a key milestone, with operations scheduled to commence in November 2026. This timeline indicates a focused and determined effort to bring the facility online and begin generating gold revenue.

Market Position and Investor Outlook

As of Friday, Forrestania Resources (ASX:FRS) maintained a steady share price of 43 cents. The company’s strategic moves and clear development pathway are likely to be closely watched by investors interested in the burgeoning gold sector in Western Australia.

The transformation of the Lake Johnston facility represents a significant undertaking, demonstrating Forrestania’s commitment to unlocking the full potential of its assets and establishing a robust gold processing operation. The company’s structured approach to development, coupled with strong partnerships, positions it favourably for future growth and success in the competitive mining landscape.
