Missing faces at the royal Easter event

Absences at the British Royal Family’s Easter Celebrations

The British royal family’s Easter celebrations this year saw several notable absences, some of which were expected while others came as a surprise. While it was anticipated that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, and their daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice would not be present, there were other omissions that stood out.

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and her daughter Lady Louise Windsor were also missing from the festivities, though for different reasons. The mother and daughter are typically regulars at various royal events throughout the year. However, this time, only Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, and his 18-year-old son James, Earl of Wessex, could attend.

According to Hello! magazine, Sophie was expected to be present this year but decided not to participate due to feeling unwell. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Lady Louise was busy with her studies at St Andrews University, where she is pursuing an English degree. She is in her final year and is expected to graduate in the coming months.

Another family that was notably absent was the Tindall family. Mike, Zara, and their children Mia, Lena, and Lucas usually make appearances at royal events. However, they reside in the Cotswolds and may have chosen to spend the holiday closer to home. The last time the Tindall family attended the Easter Sunday service at Windsor was in 2023.

Those Who Attended the Celebrations

For those who did attend, the celebrations were led by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, with the Prince and Princess of Wales following closely behind. Their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, were also in attendance.

This was the Wales family’s first appearance at the Easter Sunday service since Kate’s cancer diagnosis. Prince William looked stylish in a navy suit and pale blue tie, while his wife, Kate, made a striking impression in a cream Self-Portrait dress and matching fascinator for the special occasion.

The couple appeared in high spirits, smiling and waving to the crowds outside the chapel. At one point, Princess Charlotte was seen waving to the onlookers. Kate wore her hair down over her shoulders, paired with beige heels, a beige handbag, and a silver cross necklace. She was also seen shaking hands with a church member as she left the chapel.

Queen Camilla turned heads in a red coat and a matching wide-brimmed hat, receiving a bouquet of flowers outside the chapel. Other royals in attendance included Anne, Princess Royal, and her husband Timothy Laurence.
