A New Chapter for Jono and Dani Fren
Jono Fren and his wife, Dani, have welcomed their first child, Theodore James, into the world. The couple, who tied the knot on June 4, 2021, had been eagerly anticipating the arrival of their son, who was due in April but arrived earlier than expected on March 31. The news has brought joy to fans and friends alike, with the couple expressing their deep love and excitement for their new addition.
Speaking to a sister publication, the couple shared how emotional the experience has been. Dani described the adjustment to parenthood as a big change, with feeding schedules and nappy changes keeping them busy. “You look at him and he’s just… [sighs],” she said, clearly overwhelmed by the joy of motherhood. Jono also reflected on the journey, noting that while they knew Dani would be induced for medical reasons, nothing could prepare them for the emotional weight of the day.
The birth itself was not without its challenges. Jono explained that the labour lasted several hours before becoming complicated, leading to an emergency C-section. “He was perfect leading up to birth and then his head got stuck. It was scary, especially waiting all day,” he recalled. Despite the difficulties, Dani is recovering well and expressed gratitude for the support from family and friends.
A Gender Reveal and Excitement for the Future
Months before Theodore’s arrival, Jono took to Instagram on December 7 to share an exciting gender reveal. He posted a photo of himself and Dani holding glasses filled with blue-dyed cake, confirming they were expecting a baby boy. “IT’S A BOY!!! We are over the moon to announce Baby Fren is a BOY!” he wrote in the caption. The post was met with overwhelming support from followers and friends, with many sending congratulations.
The couple also shared a photo of their ultrasound scan, accompanied by a babygrow reading “baby Fren” and a sign that read: “Our greatest adventure awaits.” Jono expressed his excitement about the upcoming journey, saying, “I’ve had some incredible adventures around the globe, but nothing will top this next one.” He and Dani were thrilled to announce that their son was due in April 2026.
Support from Family and Friends
Jono and Dani’s co-stars on Travel Guides were quick to congratulate the couple. Kevin and Janetta commented: “Wonderful news guys xx.” Karly Fisher added: “Congratulations guys!” Meanwhile, The Block’s Kirsty and Jesse said: “Big congrats, guys, how exciting.”
The couple has also shared their hopes for starting a family. They had previously spoken about their desire to welcome a child together and had even practiced with Dani’s niece and nephew. “Having a couple of kids together would be great, if it happens to us,” they told New Idea in July. They emphasized that parenthood is no easy task, but they enjoy being aunt and uncle to their nieces and nephews.
Overcoming Challenges
Jono and Dani have faced their share of challenges, including past pregnancy losses. However, they never gave up on their dream of starting a family. Jono has no plans to leave Travel Guides, which he stars in alongside his parents, Mark and Cathy, and his sister Victoria, even as a father. “When we travel to film, we are usually away for one to three weeks at a time, then home for about a week or so, then gone again,” he explained. “I would still be around to support my wife and family.”
Despite their close relationship, Dani has ruled out becoming a permanent member of the Travel Guides cast. She joined them on-screen for a one-off trip to Japan earlier this year, but admitted she found the experience challenging. “I loved the Travel Guides experience, especially seeing firsthand what’s involved in filming,” she said. “I’ll admit I don’t know how they do it back-to-back, packing, unpacking, living out of a suitcase, and somehow staying fresh on camera.”

Looking Ahead
Jono is set to return to the 2026 series of Travel Guides alongside his family for another round of globe-trotting adventures. As they continue their journey as a family of three, the Frens remain grateful for the support they have received from their loved ones and fans.
