Linda Mwananchi Confronts Nakuru, Vows to Protect ODM from ‘Takeover’

Public Engagements Highlight ODM Faction’s Commitment

Leaders aligned with the Linda Mwananchi faction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) held a series of public engagements in Nakuru on Sunday, showcasing their dedication to the party and its values. These events included a church service followed by a political rally, both aimed at strengthening the party’s presence and rallying support among its members.

The day began with a church service at Kivumbini PAG Church in Nakuru Town East. This gathering provided an opportunity for leaders and supporters to come together in a spiritual setting, reinforcing their unity and shared goals. Following the service, the group moved to Mazembe Grounds in Nakuru Town West for a political rally, where they addressed a large crowd of supporters throughout the day.

Focus on Party Unity and Future

Siaya Governor James Orengo, a key figure within the Linda Mwananchi faction, emphasized that these engagements are part of ongoing consultations aimed at safeguarding the future of the party. He highlighted the importance of maintaining the party’s integrity and ensuring it continues to represent the interests of the people.

On Saturday, Orengo met with members of the Luo community in Nakuru to discuss the direction of ODM. His message was clear: he is committed to staying within the party and working to preserve its legacy. In a post on X, he stated, “As a principal of Linda Mwananchi, my message is very clear. I am in ODM to stay.”

Orengo also warned against what he described as attempts to undermine the party from within. He vowed to defend ODM’s legacy and ensure that the spirit of its founder, Raila Odinga, remains alive. “I am committed to fighting from within to keep Baba’s spirit alive and ensure our party remains the voice of the people,” he added.

Resistance Against Internal Threats

Other leaders aligned with the Linda Mwananchi faction have also voiced their commitment to resisting what they see as an attempted takeover of the party by the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA). ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino are among those who have publicly expressed their support for the faction’s efforts to maintain control over the party.

Their stance reflects a growing concern within the ODM about internal divisions and the potential influence of external forces. The faction believes that the party must remain strong and united to continue serving as a powerful political force in Kenya.

Continued Efforts for Unity

The events in Nakuru are part of a broader strategy to strengthen the party’s position and ensure its continued relevance. By holding public engagements and engaging with various communities, the Linda Mwananchi faction aims to build a stronger foundation for ODM’s future.

These efforts are not just about political survival; they are about preserving the ideals and principles that the party was founded on. As the faction continues its work, it remains focused on protecting the party’s legacy and ensuring that it remains a voice for the people.
