Angelina Jolie’s Kids: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne

Angelina Jolie and Her Six Children

Angelina Jolie is a name that resonates across the entertainment industry, known for her roles in films such as Mr and Mrs Smith, Girl, Interrupted, and Salt. Beyond her acting career, she has also made significant contributions to humanitarian efforts. However, one of the most profound aspects of her life is her role as a mother to six children.

In a 2023 interview with Vogue, Jolie reflected on her journey into motherhood. “I was 26 when I became a mother,” she shared. “My entire life changed. Having children saved me — and taught me to be in this world differently.” She hinted at the challenges she faced, including her highly-publicised divorce from Brad Pitt and the ongoing custody battle, suggesting that her children were a source of strength during difficult times.

Jolie described her relationship with her children as one of love and support. “They’re better than me, because you want your children to be. Of course, I’m the mother, and hopefully that safe place for them and that stability. But I’m also the one that they laugh at — and I see them taking over so many different aspects of our family.”

But who are these six children, and what are they doing now?

Maddox Chivan Jolie

Born on August 5, 2001, in Battambang, Cambodia, Maddox was adopted by Angelina when he was just seven months old. At the time, she was filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in Cambodia. She felt an immediate connection with him during a visit to the orphanage where he lived.

Maddox was initially raised by Angelina as a single mother after her marriage to Billy Bob Thorton ended. In 2005, Brad Pitt entered their lives and adopted Maddox as well. However, following the separation of Angelina and Brad in 2016 and their eventual divorce in 2019, Maddox has become estranged from his father.

He studied at Yonsei University in South Korea, majoring in Life Sciences and Biotechnology, graduating in 2023. As of 2026, Maddox is 24 years old and has started building a career in his mother’s footsteps. He made a notable move by dropping the last name Pitt for his professional credits, debuting in Angelina’s film Couture.

Zahara Marley Jolie

Zahara was born on January 8, 2005, in Hawassa, Ethiopia. She was adopted by Angelina and Brad when she was five months old. The couple brought her back to the United States, where she quickly bonded with her older brother, Maddox.

In 2023, Zahara made a public statement by dropping her father’s last name from her own during her induction into the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College, where she continues to study. During a heartfelt speech about mother-daughter relationships, she expressed her gratitude for her mother’s influence.

“When I was asked today to speak on the value of mother-daughter relationships, it felt challenging to find the words,” she admitted. “Not challenging because I don’t value it, but because my mom and I have a unique, almost kindred relationship that could be hard to put into words.”

Zahara also reflected on the values instilled in her by her mother and siblings: “Helping others, being kind and always striving for growth as people.” She acknowledged the importance of having a role model like Angelina.

Shiloh Nouvel Jolie

Shiloh is the first biological child of Angelina and Brad, born on May 27, 2006. Currently 19 years old, she regularly attends the elite dance studio Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles. Following her 18th birthday, Shiloh successfully petitioned to remove her father’s surname from hers.

Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt

Pax, the second-eldest child, joined the Jolie-Pitt family at the age of three. Born in Vietnam, he spent his early years in an orphanage before being adopted by Angelina in 2007. Brad eventually adopted him in 2008.

As of 2026, Pax is 22 years old and works as a photographer. He served as the set photographer for the film First They Killed My Father, directed by his mother and executive produced by his brother Maddox.

Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt

Knox and Vivienne were born on July 12, 2008, as twins. Knox was named after Brad’s grandfather, while Vivienne was named after Angelina’s mother. As of 2024, both are 17 years old and have remained largely out of the public eye.

However, Vivienne did appear in Angelina’s 2014 film Maleficent as the younger Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). Knox attended the 2024 Governors Awards with his mother.
