Dexter Sol Ansell Returns as Egg in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2
Dexter Sol Ansell is preparing to reprise his role as Egg in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2. The 11-year-old actor, who was just nine years old when he first appeared in the hit HBO series, has made a bold decision to shave his head for the role. This move mirrors the character’s transformation and shows his dedication to the part. He even shaved his head during auditions, which proved to be a key factor in landing the role.
Although he wasn’t required to shave his head during the initial auditions, his commitment to the character was evident. His performance caught the attention of the casting team, and he was eventually cast as Egg. Now, he returns for Season 2 with the same level of enthusiasm and determination.
A Bold Transformation
Dexter recently shared a video on Instagram showing him getting ready for his haircut and interacting with fans after shaving his head. The clip also includes glimpses of him at the barber shop, where he remained calm throughout the process. This was not his first time shaving his head for the series, but it was a significant moment for both the actor and his character.
During his first time shaving his head, he admitted to briefly questioning his decision. In an interview with Filmfare, he described feeling strange as the middle portion of his hair was being removed. “One minute, I’m about to die in The Hunger Games. The next minute, I am shaving all my hair off! It was mental,” he said.
However, he later explained how important it was for Egg to shave his head. His character had unique hair, and in order to remain hidden in Westeros and avoid being recognized, he needed to shave it off. Now, much like the character he portrays, the actor has made several bold and brave decisions throughout the series, which have been praised by the cast and crew.
Production Hiccups
While Sol Ansell is ready to begin filming for Season 2, the production of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms faced an unexpected challenge. The second season was initially planned to be filmed at the Las Niñas Dam in Gran Canaria. However, extreme rainfall during the winter caused the dam’s water levels to rise, submerging much of the film set near the reservoir.
As a result, the production company had to relocate filming to mainland Spain. Despite this disruption, there is currently no news of a delay in the Season 2 release. If no other major issues arise, the series is expected to arrive in 2027.
