Huawei Nova 15 Max leaks: RYYB sensor, 8,500mAh battery set for May 7 global debut

Huawei has officially announced the upcoming release of the Nova 15 Max, confirming that it will be unveiled at a global launch event in Bangkok on May 7, 2026. This new addition to the Nova 15 family will join the existing models—Nova 15, Nova 15 Pro, and Nova 15 Ultra—which were launched in China late last year.

The company has already released several official images and early details about the Nova 15 Max. One of the most notable features is its massive 8,500mAh battery, which is significantly larger than what is typically seen in current smartphones. If this battery performs as expected, it could easily last for more than a full day, potentially even two days for users who don’t engage in heavy usage.

In addition to the impressive battery life, the Nova 15 Max is also expected to feature a 50MP RYYB main camera, which should enhance low-light performance. The phone will also include stereo speakers for an improved audio experience. The design of the Nova 15 Max is quite different from the other models in the Nova 15 series, at least based on the information available so far. Color options have also been confirmed.

The Nova 15 Max is anticipated to share similarities with the Enjoy 90 Pro Max, which was launched in China earlier this year. This device includes a 6.84-inch AMOLED display, a Kirin 8000 chipset, 40W charging, and basic but functional cameras. It appears that Huawei is following a familiar strategy by taking an existing model, making minor adjustments, and rebranding it for global markets under a different name. In this case, the key selling point seems to be the extended battery life.

The Nova 15 Max is expected to fall within the mid-range segment, targeting users who prioritize long battery life and a large screen over top-tier performance. Alongside the Nova 15 Max, Huawei is also set to announce other products at the same event, including the Watch Fit 5 series and a new MatePad Pro Max tablet. This means that May 7 could be a busy day for the company.
