Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo, two well-known figures from the reality TV show Made In Chelsea, have shared a fascinating story about the night they met Ian Somerhalder, the actor best known for his role in The Vampire Diaries. The couple, aged 37 and 31 respectively, discussed the event on their NewlyParents podcast, revealing how it all unfolded.
Sophie described Ian as her “hall pass,” a term used to refer to a partner’s permission for a one-time sexual encounter with someone else, often a celebrity. This particular incident took place during the launch of Ian and his Vampire Diaries co-star Paul Wesley’s alcohol brand, Brother’s Bond Bourbon. At the event, Ian believed Sophie was an investor, which led to an intimate interaction between the two.
Jamie humorously referred to his wife as “a creep” for pretending to drink alcohol while breastfeeding their six-month-old son, Ziggy, in order to continue the conversation with Ian. He jokingly suggested that the situation could have ended with Sophie spending the night with the actor.
During the podcast, Sophie recounted the evening, saying, “It was Damon from Vampire Diaries [played by Ian] and we went to this drinks thing because everyone seems to know I’m obsessed.” She described how Ian was wearing a small cowboy hat that looked like it came from a souvenir shop. Jamie recalled how he had never seen Sophie so coy before, asking, “What do you think is gonna happen here? You guys are gonna go home and shag?” Sophie explained that Ian was confused by her constant presence, thinking she was there to promote the whiskey rather than just being a fan.
She continued, “I think he thought he was here promoting his whiskey. I think he thought I was like a big investor. So he kept selling the whiskey to me.” Despite being breastfeeding, Sophie pretended to drink various whiskeys, even getting close enough to Ian that their noses were almost touching.
Jamie was stunned by Sophie’s actions, calling her “a big old creep” and asking, “If he had turned to you and said: ‘Sophie, Sophie, I Hey, I think we should go home together.’ What would you have said?”
Sophie admitted, “I’d have asked you,” prompting Jamie to respond with a cheeky counter-question: “And what do you think I would have said?”
