Tigers land massive contract deal days after Luai’s shock move

Wests Tigers Secure Star Fullback with Long-Term Contract

The Wests Tigers have made a significant move by securing their star fullback, Jahream Bula, with a long-term contract extension. The club successfully convinced the talented player to sign a deal that will keep him with the team until the end of 2030.

A clause in Bula’s previous contract was set to expire, which would have allowed other clubs to approach him. Several teams were reportedly interested in his services, but the Tigers managed to secure his commitment.

The club activated an option for next year, worth $900,000, but according to reports from The Sydney Morning Herald, Bula’s new four-year contract is valued at over $1 million per season.

A Rising Star in the NRL

At just 24 years old, Bula has quickly become one of the most promising young fullbacks in the game since making his NRL debut in 2023. His performances have not only caught the attention of fans but also earned him recognition on the international stage.

Bula has represented Fiji six times and holds Samoan and Indigenous Australian heritage. He was born in Auckland but moved to Australia when he was 13 years old.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunity to remain with the Tigers for the next four seasons,” Bula said in a club statement. “The culture and connection that we have as a group is special, and I’m excited to be part of what we’re building. I love being here and I’m looking forward to growing my game under Benji (Marshall) and helping bring the club success.”

Key Re-Signing for the Tigers

Bula is one of several key players who have re-signed with the Wests Tigers. He joins Taylan May and Terrell May in extending their contracts with the club. This comes after Jarome Luai’s surprise move to Papua New Guinea, which has freed up $1.2 million on the club’s salary cap for 2028 and 2029.

The Tigers are currently enjoying a strong season under the guidance of coach Benji Marshall. They are sitting fifth on the ladder with five wins from nine games this season.

Coach Marshall Expresses Confidence

Marshall expressed his delight at securing Bula’s signature, highlighting the player’s qualities both on and off the field. “He’s humble, hard-working and a great character to have around,” Marshall said. “I’ve really enjoyed seeing him grow in confidence and have great belief in what he can bring us over the next four years.”

Injury Setback for Bula

Despite his positive outlook, Bula is currently sidelined due to a shoulder injury. However, his commitment to the Tigers and his potential to contribute to the team’s success remain a key focus for the club.

With Bula’s contract extension, the Wests Tigers have taken a major step in securing their future and building a strong foundation for the coming years. The club’s leadership and strategic moves are setting the stage for continued growth and success in the competitive NRL environment.
