Laura Whitmore’s Pregnancy Sparks Excitement at TV BAFTA Event

A Night of Glamour and Recognition at the BAFTA Television Awards

The BAFTA Television Awards brought together some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry for a night of glamour and celebration. Among the attendees was Laura Whitmore, who joined fellow pregnant star Remmie Milner at Apple TV’s BAFTA Brunch at 180 House in London. The event took place on Saturday ahead of the ceremony on Sunday.

Laura, 41, made a striking appearance in a stylish sheer coat that gave a subtle glimpse of her baby bump. She posed alongside her husband, Iain Stirling, 38, who looked dashing in a classic brown suit. The couple’s fashion choices were complemented by a chic black dress and heels, adding to the overall elegance of the occasion.

Remmie Milner, 36, also made an impression with her bold style. She proudly displayed her bump in a striking bralette and matching jacket, completing the look with low-rise jeans and statement jewellery. As a star of His Dark Materials, Remmie has also appeared in Sky’s Save Me and Apple TV’s Silo. Her presence at the event highlighted the growing recognition of women in the industry, especially those who are also mothers.

The Showcases of Excellence

The BAFTA Television Awards will be hosted by Greg Davies and broadcast at 7pm on Sunday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The nominations, announced in March, included a record number of entries, with Stephen Graham leading the way with 11 nominations for his drama Adolescence and seven for his Disney+ series A Thousand Blows.

The series, created by Stephen and writer Jack Thorne, follows the story of British teenager Jamie Miller, who is found guilty of murdering a female classmate after being influenced by the manosphere online. Each episode is filmed in one continuous shot and has been praised for addressing important issues such as online radicalisation and misogyny. It is up for awards in the categories of Limited Drama and Leading Actor, including the Craft Awards.

Notable Nominations and Competitors

Stars such as Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, Ashley Walters, Erin Doherty, and Christine Tremarco are all up for awards. Stephen will compete against Colin Firth, Matt Smith, and Taron Egerton in the Leading Actor category. Ashley will face his co-star Owen in the Supporting Actor category, alongside Paddy Considine, Rafael Mathe, Joshua McGuire, and Fehinti Balogun.

Erin will be up against Aimee Lou Wood, Christine, Chyna McQueen, Emilia Jones, and Rose Ayling-Ellis in the Leading Actress category, marking her first nomination in this category. Netflix has a total of 29 nominations, but it’s the BBC that leads with 73 in total, including five for The Celebrity Traitors.

Highlights of the Evening

The Celebrity Traitors became the highest-rated show on British TV last year, with host Claudia Winkleman up for a chance at winning in the best Entertainment Programme section. Prime Video’s Last One Laughing will compete against the all-stars version of the Traitors, with Bob Mortimer up for best Entertainment Performance.

Before the ceremony, Fleur East and Roman Kemp will present live on the red carpet on BAFTA’s YouTube. Cat Burns will perform “How To Be Human,” while Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA will perform “Through the Eyes of a Child” from the BAFTA-nominated Netflix series Adolescence.

Honoring Excellence

The BAFTA Fellowship will be presented to Dame Mary Berry DBE, and Martin Lewis CBE will receive the BAFTA Television Special Award. Dame Mary Berry expressed her excitement about the honor, saying, “I couldn’t believe it was true, what a huge honour to be presented with the BAFTA Fellowship. For over 50 years, I have enjoyed every moment of teaching my passion on television and I thank all the generous professionals along the way who have given me guidance and support – and I am still learning. This amazing BAFTA Fellowship is the icing on the cake!”
