Claudia Winkleman’s Brief Appearance at the BAFTA Television Awards
Claudia Winkleman, a well-known TV presenter, made a rare appearance alongside her husband Kris Thykier at the BAFTA Television Awards. The event took place on Sunday at The Royal Festival Hall in London, where she was able to pick up an award for Best Reality Show for The Traitors. However, her time at the event was brief, as she had to return to Scotland shortly after.
Claudia, who is 54 years old, had just finished filming Celebrity Traitors in Scotland earlier in the week. She was joined by notable participants such as Maya Jama, James Blunt, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Despite the chaotic schedule, she managed to make it to London for the star-studded ceremony.
She told the Daily Mail: “We came down from Scotland this morning and I am leaving again in eight minutes.” Her quick trip was due to the tight schedule, but she still found time to celebrate the win.
Speaking about the show, Claudia shared her enthusiasm: “My favourite things when I’m told I’m taking part in the show. I couldn’t believe it in the second series that I was taking part. I love every single aspect because everybody who works on the team is obsessed by it, obsessed by the game.”

She also highlighted the importance of social media in the show: “Social media is so important to the show, people who watch together as families is my favourite thing of all and it feels like a real communal moment.”
For the event, Claudia looked stylish in a smart black jacket and matching cropped trousers, with white stiletto heels to add height. Her husband, Kris, also 54, was dressed elegantly in a suit and bow tie, standing beside her inside the event after they held hands on the red carpet.
The couple has been married since June 2000, but they rarely attend major events together. Their presence at the BAFTA Television Awards was a rare occurrence.
Highlights from the BAFTA Television Awards
The BAFTA Television Awards were hosted by Greg Davies and broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Sunday, May 10, at 7pm. Nominations were announced in March, with Stephen Graham leading the way with 11 nominations for his drama Adolescence and seven for his Disney+ series A Thousand Blows.
Adolescence, created by actor Stephen Graham and writer Jack Thorne, tells the story of British teenager Jamie Miller, who is found guilty of murdering a female classmate after being influenced by online radicalisation. Each episode is filmed in one continuous shot and has been praised for addressing topics such as online radicalisation and misogyny.

The show is up for Limited Drama and Leading Actor, including the Craft Awards. Stars such as Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, Ashley Walters, Erin Doherty, and Christine Tremarco are also up for awards.
Stephen will compete against Colin Firth, Matt Smith, and Taron Egerton in the Leading Actor category. Ashley will face his co-star Owen in the Supporting Actor category, alongside Paddy Considine, Rafael Mathe, Joshua McGuire, and Fehinti Balogun.
Erin and Christine will go up against each other and Aimee Lou Wood, Chyna McQueen, Emilia Jones, and Rose Ayling-Ellis for Best Supporting Actress. Erin and Aimee will also face off in the Leading Actress category for their roles in A Thousand Blows and Film Club, respectively.

Netflix has a total of 29 nominations, but the BBC has the highest number of nominations, with 73 in total — five of which are for The Celebrity Traitors.
The show became the highest-rated show on British TV last year, with host Claudia Winkleman up for a chance at taking home a gong in the best Entertainment Programme section.
Prime Video’s Last One Laughing will compete against the all-stars version of The Traitors, with show star Bob Mortimer up for best Entertainment Performance.
Before the ceremony, Fleur East and Roman Kemp will present live on the red carpet on BAFTA’s YouTube. Cat Burns will perform How To Be Human, while Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA will perform Through the Eyes of a Child from BAFTA-nominated Netflix series Adolescence.
The BAFTA Fellowship will be presented to Dame Mary Berry DBE, and Martin Lewis CBE will receive the BAFTA Television Special Award. Dame Mary Berry expressed her gratitude: “I couldn’t believe it was true, what a huge honour to be presented with the BAFTA Fellowship. For over 50 years, I have enjoyed every moment of teaching my passion on television and I thank all the generous professionals along the way who have given me guidance and support — and I am still learning. This amazing BAFTA Fellowship is the icing on the cake!”
