Rod Stewart’s Remark About Trump Sparks Surprise

A Remarkable Encounter at the Royal Albert Hall

During the 50th Anniversary Celebration of The King’s Trust at the Royal Albert Hall in London on May 11, Rod Stewart had an unexpected conversation with King Charles. The 81-year-old musician crossed paths with the 77-year-old monarch, and during their interaction, Stewart made a comment that caught attention.

Charles greeted a number of celebrities at the event, and when he reached Stewart, the rock star praised the royal’s recent trip to the Americas. Stewart’s remarks were reportedly lighthearted, but they sparked some discussion.

According to a now-deleted video from Rebecca English of the Daily Mail, Stewart told the king, “May I say, well done in the Americas… You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little rat bag in his place.” While those around them laughed at the comment, which many believe refers to former US President Donald Trump, the King did not respond directly.

It is common for members of the royal family to maintain political neutrality, and Charles’ reaction aligns with this tradition. His silence on the matter reflects the training and expectations placed upon him in such situations.

Stewart and Trump had a history of friendship, as both lived in Florida. However, the singer shared in a recent interview with Radio Times that their relationship has since changed. He mentioned that he and Trump are no longer friends due to the US government’s ties and arms sales to Israel.

Stewart expressed his concerns about the ongoing conflict in Gaza, stating, “How’s that [Gaza] war ever gonna stop?” He also noted that while he appreciated Trump’s “man’s man” attitude, he felt the former president did not treat women well. After becoming president, Stewart said, “He became another guy. Somebody I didn’t know.”

King Charles recently visited the United States from April 27 to 30, following the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting. His trip aimed to celebrate the strong bond between the US and the UK and commemorate 250 years since the US gained independence from Britain.

The monarch was particularly praised for his historic speech to a session of Congress. This marked the first time a reigning British monarch had addressed Congress since Queen Elizabeth II did so in 1991, 35 years earlier.

In his address, Charles emphasized the importance of the US-UK alliance, stating, “The challenges we face are too great for any one nation to bear alone. But in this unpredictable environment, our alliance cannot rest on past achievements, or assume that foundational principles simply endure. As my prime minister said last month: ‘Ours is an indispensable partnership. We must not disregard everything that has sustained us for the last 80 years. Instead, we must build on it.’”

Trump, who was present at the event, later commented on the speech, saying, “He made a great speech. I was very jealous.”
