Ryan Reynolds has been expressing deep affection for his wife, Blake Lively, following a challenging period in their lives. On Sunday, May 10, the actor known for his role in Green Lantern took to Instagram Stories to honor Lively on Mother’s Day — just days after her extended legal battle related to It Ends With Us reached a conclusion.

Reynolds shared a heartfelt message about Lively, calling her “a mother beyond measure.” He added, “She is kind. She is fearless. She’s the absolute love of my life and to our four little kids, she’s the life of their love.” The post was accompanied by a series of cozy photos showing the couple relaxing side-by-side in lounge chairs, wearing matching ponchos, and posing near a waterfall.

The couple, who tied the knot in September 2012, have four children together: James, 11; Inez, 9; Betty, 6; and Olin, 3. Their public display of affection comes at a time when Lively has been navigating the aftermath of a high-profile legal dispute with her It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.

The legal conflict between Lively and Baldoni came to an end on May 4, as both sides reached a settlement. Attorneys representing both parties, including Bryan Freedman and Ellyn Garofalo from Wayfarer Studios, along with Lively’s lawyers Michael Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, issued a joint statement ahead of the case being set for trial in New York.

“The end product — the movie It Ends With Us — is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life,” the statement said. “Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors — and all survivors — is a goal that we stand behind.”
The message continued, “We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard. We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”

The dispute began in December 2024 when Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment on set. She also alleged that Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, orchestrated a “social manipulation” campaign aimed at damaging her reputation.
Baldoni denied the accusations and later filed a $400 million countersuit, which was eventually dismissed. Lively claimed she lost nearly $300 million after being labeled a “bully” and “mean girl” online during the controversy.
According to a source, Reynolds had encouraged Lively to resolve the legal dispute. “Ryan had been after her to settle for over a year,” the insider said. “The lawsuit ruined her career and was damaging his. Badly.” The source also claimed that Lively’s career suffered during the ongoing legal drama, with Hollywood agents reportedly reluctant to work with actresses involved in lawsuits that could lead to budget overruns.
