Arama Hau’s Future Secured with Gold Coast Titans
The Gold Coast Titans have made a significant move by re-signing promising player Arama Hau until the end of the 2028 season. This decision highlights the club’s commitment to nurturing local talent and building a team that truly represents the Gold Coast community.
Hau, a Gold Coast local junior, has come through the club’s ‘Future Titans’ program and is now making his mark at the NRL level. His journey from a young player in the program to an emerging star showcases his dedication and potential. Despite receiving interest from notable figures like Mal Meninga and his Perth Bears side, Hau has chosen to stay in Queensland, where he continues to impress as a second-row player.
With 17 games of NRL experience under his belt, Hau has proven himself as a valuable asset to the team. The former Australian Schoolboy is taking full advantage of the opportunities presented to him under coach Josh Hannay. As he develops into a key player for the Titans, his contributions are becoming increasingly vital to the team’s success.
Hannay expressed his satisfaction with Hau’s re-signing, emphasizing the importance of cultivating home-grown talent. He stated:
“Arama’s signature is crucial as we continue building a team that not only plays on the Gold Coast but plays for the Gold Coast. He’s developing into a quality back rower and quality young man, and we look forward to his future with the Titans. We’re committed to growing a team that identifies with the Gold Coast and most importantly, a team our members and fans can identify with.”
Currently, the Titans’ squad includes 13 players who were either born or raised in South East Queensland and the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. Eight of these players are from the Gold Coast itself, showcasing the club’s strong local roots. Hau’s commitment adds another layer to this connection, reinforcing the team’s identity and appeal to its supporters.
Rising Star with Big Potential
Hau has drawn comparisons to established stars such as Haumole Olakau’atu and David Fifita, thanks to his powerful contact and exceptional footwork at the line. His ability to break tackles and score crucial tries has been on display, particularly when he scored a double against the St George Illawarra Dragons earlier in the year. One of his standout moments was a long-range try where he burst out of tackles, demonstrating his explosive speed and determination.
Given his consistent performance and growth, Hau is being considered as a potential candidate for the QLD Maroons if he continues on his current trajectory. His skills and work ethic have not gone unnoticed, with coach Billy Slater likely keeping a close eye on his progress.
As the Gold Coast Titans look to the future, securing players like Arama Hau is essential for maintaining a strong connection with the local community. Hau’s decision to remain with the club reflects his loyalty and belief in the team’s vision. With his talent and commitment, he is set to play a significant role in the Titans’ ongoing development and success.
