Phillip Schofield Finds Peace in New Life After Scandal

Phillip Schofield has shared insights into his life three years after his unexpected departure from the popular ITV daytime show, This Morning. The 64-year-old TV personality left the program after a 21-year tenure, which he co-hosted with Holly Willoughby, in May 2023. He admitted to an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a ‘younger male colleague,’ who was 30 years his junior.

During this time, Schofield expressed deep remorse for the lies he told to his employers, colleagues, friends, agents, the media, the public, and his family. He also apologized for being unfaithful to his wife.

Since then, aside from his unsuccessful three-part survival docuseries on Channel 5 called Cast Away, Schofield has largely stayed out of the public eye, focusing on a quieter life in west London. Recently, he opened up about what he has been doing in the years since leaving his television career behind and confirmed that he has no plans to return to the small screen.

‘Life is really calm and drama-free now. I decided a while ago that I just wanted a quiet life with family, friends I can trust and my dog,’ he told the Daily Mail. He added that he keeps his ‘head down as much as possible’ these days.

Schofield reflected on the past few years, describing them as ‘utterly brutal on so many levels.’ He acknowledged that there was no way back and has since come to terms with his new life, finding contentment and happiness in it.

The publication also reported that Schofield and his longtime co-star, Holly Willoughby, have lost contact since the breakdown of their relationship before the scandal became public. Their professional partnership had been strained for some time, and they had to maintain a professional front during their time on This Morning.

Neither Schofield nor Willoughby has publicly commented on each other since the end of their professional collaboration three years ago. Schofield’s name has recently appeared in the context of various other media stars. Earlier this year, Amanda Holden’s Heart radio co-star, Jamie Theakston, mentioned Schofield, prompting Holden to respond, “Oh God, please, let’s not mention that name on air, it’s a family show!”

The pair reportedly had a falling out in 2018 when Schofield was accused of undermining Holden’s chances of co-hosting This Morning while Holly was in Australia. In March, Kate Garraway was asked if she had ever shared a ‘Lost Mary vape’ with Schofield on the BBC’s What Have You Done? with Chi + Lucas, to which she replied ‘no’ before remaining silent on the topic.

Inquiries have been made to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s representatives for further comment.
