Speculation has been rampant regarding which members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet might leave the administration in the near future. One analyst suggests that the answer could be found behind the door of the Vice President, JD Vance.
Vance has long been seen as a potential successor to Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, despite the lack of an official endorsement from Trump himself. However, recent developments have raised questions about his prospects.
Prediction Markets and Vance’s Prospects
In a recent reaction video, liberal political commentator David Pakman highlighted that Vance’s chances of taking over the MAGA movement seem to be declining. He pointed to prediction market data showing a drop in Vance’s likelihood of winning the Republican presidential nomination in 2028, from around 56% or 57% to 34%.
Pakman also noted that the same data gave Secretary of State Marco Rubio a 30% chance of winning and right-wing pundit Tucker Carlson a 6.3% chance. According to Pakman, this decline is significant and not something Trump would overlook.
“You know that Trump is going to notice this because something Trump cannot tolerate is weakness,” Pakman said.
The Decline of Vance’s Political Standing
Pakman suggested that the prediction market data reveals a deeper issue with Vance, indicating that he is becoming a “political liability” for Trump. For months, Republicans and right-wing media figures have treated Vance as a sure thing, viewing him as young, aggressive, and totally loyal to Trump. However, reality has started to set in, and Vance’s speeches have shown a lack of charisma.
“He’s willing to say just about anything to stay in Donald Trump’s good graces. But then reality started setting in, and JD Vance gave more of these speeches, and we realized this guy lacks all charisma,” Pakman said.
The Role of Entertainment in Politics
Pakman added that Vance’s lack of entertainment value could be a major setback for his career within the Trump administration. He argued that Trump’s success is partly due to his entertainment value, and Vance does not possess this quality.
“Trump has an entertainment value that is an important factor in his political success,” Pakman said. “JD Vance is not entertaining at all. And I wish that politics didn’t come down to entertainment, but especially on the Republican side, it kind of does. And so you see that self-destruction taking place.”
Recent Controversies Surrounding Vance
Vance has faced several controversies recently. His promotion of a new Christian book has drawn backlash, with critics accusing him of “cashing in on religion.” Additionally, he has made ominous statements about the future, suggesting that “suffering is going to get a lot worse.”
Another controversy involves Vance’s role as a new fraud war czar, where he announced the suspension of Medicaid funds in blue states. This move has sparked criticism and debate.
Furthermore, a lobbyist was caught offering cash to boost Vance’s rally numbers, with the individual stating, “I will give you $100.” This incident has further damaged Vance’s reputation.

Onlookers have also expressed discomfort with Vance’s behavior, particularly during moments where he seemed to beg for applause. Some have even expressed sympathy for him, saying, “Almost feel sorry for him.”
