Trader Joe’s Unveils New Summer-Themed Mini Insulated Tote Bags
Trader Joe’s is getting ready for the warmer months with the release of six new summer-themed mini insulated tote bags. The retailer announced its latest collection, called the Summer Fun Mini Insulated Totes, on Thursday. Each bag has a one-and-a-half-gallon capacity, a zipper top, and two reinforced handles.
Two of the six bags feature a striped design, with one available in red and pink and another in blue and green. The remaining four totes come in orange, blue, green, or purple and have a silhouette design of a Trader Joe’s store next to palm trees. These stylish bags will be available in stores nationwide starting May 20 and will cost $3.99 each.
A Trader Joe’s spokesperson shared with the media that many customers have found these totes to be a great addition to their daily routine. “They make quite a statement when used to carry your lunch along to school or work,” they said. “Just be sure to pick up a Tote while you can—supplies are limited.”
The Popularity of Trader Joe’s Mini Totes
Trader Joe’s aesthetically pleasing mini totes have become a hit, often causing excitement and crowds in stores as fans rush to get their hands on the latest designs. The brand first introduced its line of mini insulated tote bags in 2024, and they quickly sold out. Soon after, people began reselling them on eBay, with some sets fetching almost $50.
In 2024, the grocery chain launched its viral mini canvas tote bags, which were available in red, green, blue, and yellow for $3 each. These canvas bags became a status symbol on social media, with influencers sharing how they customized the totes with paint, buttons, and embroidery. Customers even posted videos showing the long lines they stood in, sometimes stretching out of the store, just to get their hands on a bag.
Fans once again took over the aisles of Trader Joe’s in 2025 when the retailer brought back the mini canvas tote bags, this time in pastel shades of blue, pink, purple, and green. The bags were only available for a limited time in March, adding to their exclusivity.
Expansion Plans and Growing Presence
The new mini insulated totes come at a time when Trader Joe’s is expanding its business. The company has plans to open new stores across 12 states, including California, Washington, Utah, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, Kansas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Georgia, Arizona, and New Jersey.
The California-based chain has already opened two new stores since the start of 2026—one in Hamden, Connecticut, and one in Miller Place, New York. After adding nearly 100 stores in 2023 and 2024, the grocer now has more than 600 locations nationwide.
