Ethan Nwaneri, a rising star from Arsenal, is set to join three other young English talents for Thomas Tuchel’s pre-World Cup training camp in Florida. The 19-year-old, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Ligue 1 club Marseille, will be part of the group that includes Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, Fulham’s Josh King, and Liverpool’s Rio Ngumoha. Together, they will contribute to the team’s preparation for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Miami.
Scott, King, and Ngumoha were confirmed as part of the squad on Friday, following Tuchel’s announcement of his 26-man list for the finals. Nwaneri was added to the group on Saturday, with an official statement from England’s X account confirming his participation in the preparation camp.
Nwaneri made 12 senior appearances for Arsenal this season before moving to France, where he played an additional 10 matches, six of which came off the bench. His time at Marseille was challenging after Roberto De Zerbi, the manager he initially impressed with a debut goal against Lens, left the club to take over at Tottenham. De Zerbi’s departure left Nwaneri struggling to secure regular playing time under new manager Habib Beye, who criticized him for a lack of “day-to-day commitment.” Despite this, Nwaneri has maintained his place in the England setup, earning 15 caps with the U21 team.
The England squad, excluding players involved in Crystal Palace’s Conference League final and Arsenal’s Champions League final, will gather in Palm Beach on 1 June. Tuchel’s team will play two friendly matches—against New Zealand in Tampa and Costa Rica in Orlando—before relocating to Kansas City on 13 June.
England’s campaign in Group L will begin with a match against Croatia in Dallas on 17 June, followed by games against Ghana in Boston on 23 June and Panama in New Jersey on 27 June. These fixtures will serve as crucial tests ahead of the tournament.
The selection of Nwaneri highlights the growing confidence in young English talent, with Tuchel looking to blend experience with fresh energy. The inclusion of players like Nwaneri, Scott, King, and Ngumoha reflects a strategic approach to building a competitive squad for the World Cup.
As the team prepares for the challenges ahead, fans will be watching closely to see how these emerging stars perform on the international stage. With a mix of seasoned players and promising newcomers, England aims to make a strong impression in the tournament.
The journey to the World Cup is already underway, and the focus remains on unity, preparation, and performance. With the right mindset and strategy, the Three Lions are determined to represent England with pride and determination.
