“Full Stop”: Chairman’s Unyielding Support for Gould and Ciraldo

Bulldogs Chairman Supports Key Figures Amid Challenges

Canterbury Bulldogs chairman Adam Druissi has publicly backed head coach Phil Gould and general manager Cameron Ciraldo during a challenging phase for the club. Despite ending a five-game losing streak against the Storm on Friday night, the Bulldogs remain in 13th place on the ladder with four wins and seven losses.

The pressure on both Gould and Ciraldo has been mounting in recent weeks, with concerns over recruitment decisions made over the past 12 months and the team’s decline in performance since they were leading the competition mid-season last year.

Druissi emphasized that there is no need to “panic” about the club’s current position and expressed full confidence in the leadership of Gould and Ciraldo.

“Of course we’re disappointed with where we are at this stage of the season,” he said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.

“But I have complete faith in Phil Gould and Cameron Ciraldo. They are the right people to lead this club, full stop. The easiest thing in football is to panic when results don’t go your way. We’re not going to do that – we’re going to come through this together.”

Focus on Long-Term Vision

Druissi also highlighted the poor performance of the Bulldogs before Gould’s arrival in 2021 and Ciraldo’s appointment as coach for the 2023 season.

“It’s easy to forget where this club was,” he continued.

“What Gus and Cameron have built here is real – the culture, pathways, structures. A bad run of results doesn’t unwind three years of genuine progress. I’m very confident in the long-term direction.”

Denial of Talks with AJ Brimson

The club has also denied any discussions with AJ Brimson, according to the Herald. This comes as the Bulldogs continue to focus on developing young talent through their pathways program.

Young Talent Making an Impact

In recent weeks, Canterbury has introduced several promising young forwards from the pathways program, including AJ Jones, Jack Underhill, and Jed Reardon.

Upcoming Match Against Wests Tigers

The Bulldogs will face the injury-plagued Wests Tigers next weekend. With the team looking to bounce back from recent setbacks, the upcoming match will be crucial in determining their trajectory for the rest of the season.

Looking Ahead

As the Bulldogs navigate this challenging period, the support from chairman Druissi provides a sense of stability and confidence within the club. With a strong foundation in place, the focus remains on long-term growth and development, ensuring that the club continues to build on the progress made over the past few years.
