Addressing Concerns Over Age Gap in ‘Off Campus’
The release of Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Off Campus’ sparked a global phenomenon, capturing the attention of audiences worldwide. However, amid the excitement, discussions about the age gap between lead stars Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli emerged. Their on-screen chemistry, particularly in intimate scenes, has drawn considerable attention. Recently, Ella Bright took to the spotlight to address these concerns directly.

Bright recently appeared on the ‘Not Skinny But Not Fat’ podcast, where she spoke with host Amanda Hirsch about the age difference between her and her co-star, Belmont Cameli. At 19 years old, Bright is significantly younger than Cameli, who is 28 and plays her romantic interest in the series. Despite this, their dynamic has been praised for its authenticity and intensity.

Despite the online discourse, Bright emphasized that her relationship with Cameli has always remained professional. She noted that she was 18 during the filming of the series and never felt uncomfortable or excluded because of her age.
“I get people’s concern, but also not once did I feel, one, left out from being younger than everybody,” Bright said. “We’re all such a family, and everyone was just more than perfect, and I couldn’t be more comfortable on this set with these people.”
Navigating Intimate Scenes and Professional Boundaries
Bright also addressed conversations surrounding the show’s intimate scenes and nudity. She clarified that all actors were informed well in advance about their roles and the requirements before filming began. According to Bright, she was fully aware that her character Hannah would involve partial nudity, while co-star Mika Abdalla had agreed to more revealing scenes for her role as Allie.
Ella Bright Says Belmont Cameli And She Became Best Friends On Set

Bright previously shared insights into her relationship with Cameli during Creation Entertainment’s ‘Page, Screen and Everything in Between’ convention. She recalled the first time they met, during the first kiss scene between Hannah and Garrett. While the actual kissing was not part of the scene, the experience was memorable.
“I remember the first time I met Belmont, we did the first kiss scene between Hannah and Garrett, obviously without the kissing,” Bright told People. “But it was really funny, because we would get really, really close and they would go, ‘And cut!’ It was really, really fun.”
Building a Lasting Friendship
During the production, Bright described how Cameli became one of her closest friends. She expressed admiration for him, highlighting the bond they developed over the course of filming.
“I really look up to him a lot,” Bright stated. “We have so much fun together. He’s the greatest.” She added, “We met at the chemistry reads, we got each other’s numbers, and we’ve just been friends ever since. I mean, when you spend that much time with someone on set—we’d have like 15, 16-hour days—you have to be just the best of friends.”
Commitment to the Role
On the podcast, Bright also shared that she was fully aware of what the role would require from her. She explained that she came into the job with sufficient knowledge and understanding of the show’s demands.
“I came into this job and, during the chemistry reads, with more than enough information and knowledge and understanding of what this role required and the show,” Bright said. “And I just fell in love with Hannah and these scripts immediately. There was never a question that I wouldn’t want to do this.”
