Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Insights on Her Daughter’s Acting Debut
Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about her daughter, Apple Martin, landing a role in a new film alongside her former co-star from The Talented Mr Ripley, Jude Law. The 53-year-old GOOP founder shared her excitement during an appearance on the Today show with Savannah Guthrie, expressing pride in her daughter’s achievement.
“I am really proud of her, really thrilling,” Paltrow said while wearing a pale blue sleeveless dress and slingback heels. When asked about Law, she simply replied, “Jude Law is in it,” as if highlighting his presence was enough to express her admiration. She also mentioned that Owen Wilson would be part of the film, calling it “incredible” as she smiled.
Paltrow offered advice to young people entering the entertainment industry, emphasizing the challenges ahead. “It’s hard. It’s a difficult road but it’s worth pursuing if that’s their absolute truth,” she said. She also encouraged aspiring stars to avoid reading anything about themselves.
A New Chapter for Apple Martin
Apple Martin, who recently graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Law, History, and Society, has made her feature film debut in a Nancy Meyers movie. The film, which is currently in production, is set for release on Christmas Day next year. Meyers, known for directing popular rom-coms such as Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday, and It’s Complicated, has described the film as semi-autobiographical.
According to Deadline, the film will also star Kieran Culkin and Penelope Cruz, with additional cast members including Tony Hale, Beverly D’Angelo, and Erin Doherty. Paltrow has already worked with three of the actors her daughter will star with, including Law in The Talented Mr Ripley, Penelope Cruz in The Good Night, and Owen Wilson in The Royal Tenenbaums.
Martin shared her excitement about the opportunity on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Dream come true!!! Thank you @nmeyers for taking a chance on me.” She added two red hearts to the post, showing her enthusiasm for the role.
A Family Affair in Entertainment
In addition to her acting career, Apple is working with her mother’s manager, Cade Hudson, at Hudson Management Group. She has also signed with a power agent at CAA. Prior to this role, Martin appeared in a small part on the show Rooster with Steve Carell.
Paltrow also took the opportunity to promote her son, Moses, who is now signed with Interscope Records for his band, People I’ve Met. She called the band “amazing” and highlighted that Moses is “such a nice boy.”
The Film’s Journey
Nancy Meyers is directing the film from her own script, with Ilona Herzberg producing alongside Diana Pokorny and Paula Case as executive producers. The plot remains undisclosed, but Meyers hinted at its themes in a previous statement, describing it as “a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do.”
The film is set to be released on December 25, 2027, marking a significant milestone for both Paltrow and her daughter.
