Indian Badminton Sensation Supports RCB’s Historic IPL 2026 Victory
Indian badminton star PV Sindhu was among the many who celebrated as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) successfully defended their IPL title with a memorable win over Gujarat Titans in the final of IPL 2026. The two-time Olympic medallist took to social media to express her admiration for the franchise, its players, management, and loyal supporters following the five-wicket victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31.
The triumph marked another significant milestone for the Bangalore-based team, which has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years. Once known for struggling under pressure, RCB has now solidified its position as one of the most formidable teams in the league, securing back-to-back titles.
Sindhu also made headlines with a lighthearted Instagram post that playfully suggested she might be the reason behind RCB’s recent success. She joked about the team’s consistent victories since she moved to Bangalore, writing:
“RCB fans, I am not saying that I am the lucky charm. But, I have moved to Bangalore and suddenly, you have won the trophy every year since. Do the maths,”

Her message resonated with fans and sports enthusiasts alike, sparking a wave of reactions across social media platforms. Sindhu also acknowledged the deep bond between the franchise and its supporters, highlighting the emotional journey the team has been through over the years.
She expressed her admiration for the loyalty of RCB’s fanbase, noting that while the team had faced numerous heartbreaks and missed opportunities in the past, the wait for success had been worth it. In her message, she said:
“Huge congratulations to the incredible RCB team, the players, the staff, the ownership and the fans. This franchise has carried so much emotion, madness, heartbreak, belief and love over the years and to see it become back-to-back champions is truly special.”
Sindhu, who is also a fan of Hyderabad-based team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), added a personal touch to her message, expressing that while a Hyderabad vs RCB final would have been ideal, she was thrilled for the Bangalore team.
“Of course, a Hyderabad vs RCB final would have been the dream. SRH vs RCB would have emotionally destroyed all of us in the best way. But Bangalore, you deserved this. After years of heartbreak. Back-to-back champions.”
Key Players Behind RCB’s Success
While the entire team played a crucial role in RCB’s victory, the leadership of skipper Rajat Patidar proved instrumental in their success. Patidar became just the third captain in IPL history, after MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, to defend an IPL title.
Throughout the season, Patidar showcased his exceptional skills both as a captain and a batter. He scored 501 runs in 15 matches, averaging 41.75 with a strike rate of 192.69. His performance in Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans was particularly impressive, where he smashed 93 runs from just 33 balls.
Patidar’s calm demeanor and strategic acumen helped guide the team through high-pressure situations, earning him praise from fans and analysts alike. His ability to lead by example on the field was a key factor in RCB’s continued dominance in the tournament.
A Growing Legacy
The spectacular rise of the Bangalore-based franchise continues to captivate fans around the world. With stars from various Indian sports, including badminton, football, and cricket, applauding their achievements, RCB’s success story is becoming a symbol of resilience and excellence.
As the team celebrates its second consecutive IPL title, the legacy of Royal Challengers Bengaluru grows stronger, setting new benchmarks for future seasons.
