Watch This Space: Queensland Duo Linked to Exit

Rising Stars in the NRL Player Market

Two Queensland-based players are generating significant interest in the current player market, with the Gold Coast Titans playing a central role in their futures within the National Rugby League (NRL). Among these talents is AJ Brimson, who has emerged as a potential target for clubs looking to strengthen their fullback positions. Despite being an England representative, Brimson has often been deployed in the centres rather than his natural position at fullback.

Brimson, who is under contract with the Titans until 2030, has not yet confirmed his future on the Gold Coast. However, there are growing whispers that the Canterbury Bulldogs could be a possible destination for the 27-year-old. Scott Pryde, a well-known commentator, highlighted the situation during this week’s episode of the NRL Contract Show.

“This is a really, really interesting one,” Pryde said. “Brimson publicly has said he wants to stay on the Gold Coast, he’s happy playing anywhere and he’ll do anything for the football team. He’s such a good fullback. It only makes sense that there are clubs in Sydney watching that situation. We believe Canterbury are one. They recently re-signed Connor Tracey, but there’s now question marks around him given Jacob Kiraz’s form at fullback over the past couple of weeks.”

Pryde added that while nothing is expected to happen soon, fans should keep an eye on the situation. “A real watch on that one with AJ Brimson. I can’t see anything happening too soon, but definitely watch this space.”

Potential Moves and New Opportunities

If Brimson were to leave the Gold Coast, the Titans might look to acquire another player. One name on the radar is Jesse Arthars, a winger for the Brisbane Broncos who has fallen out of favor with coach Michael Maguire. Since the middle of last year, Arthars has struggled to secure regular minutes when the Broncos are at full strength.

“Jesse Arthars has fallen well out of favour with Michael Maguire there. He’s struggled to find minutes when they’re at full strength since the middle of last year,” Pryde noted. “Expect him to leave Brisbane. The Titans are interested. Apparently, he’s interested in Japanese rugby as well. He could leave the NRL altogether. It wouldn’t shock me, he has got a background in rugby union.”

Arthars’ potential move to Japan adds another layer of intrigue to his future. While he may be considering a switch across the state, there is also the possibility of a complete departure from the NRL.

Other Players in the Spotlight

In addition to Brimson and Arthars, the latest segment of The Market on the NRL Contract Show also examined where Australian representatives Murray Taulagi and Gehamat Shibasaki might be heading. The team also reviewed recent player movements and some of the biggest off-season signings in the NRL.

With several key players potentially changing teams, the coming months are set to be an exciting time for fans and analysts alike. The dynamics of the league are shifting, and the decisions made by clubs and players will shape the future of the NRL.
