Ben Foster Encourages Liverpool to Target Jarrod Bowen
Former England goalkeeper Ben Foster has urged Liverpool to consider a move for West Ham United’s star forward, Jarrod Bowen. He believes that the 29-year-old would “do an absolutely fantastic job” at Anfield.
Bowen is expected to leave West Ham this summer after the club’s relegation from the Premier League. The Hammers’ drop to the Championship came after a difficult season, with their rivals Tottenham narrowly avoiding the same fate on the final day of the season.
During his time at West Ham, Bowen has made a significant impact, scoring 85 goals and providing 63 assists in 280 appearances. These numbers have earned him a special place in the hearts of fans at the London Stadium. However, the player has not yet given any guarantees about his future, and it is reported that several top clubs are closely watching the situation.
Manchester United, Newcastle, and Liverpool have all been linked with interest in Bowen recently. A report by The Independent suggested that West Ham are under pressure to sell their key player, with Chelsea reportedly leading the transfer race. The Blues have been considering a bid for Bowen for some time, and incoming manager Xabi Alonso is known to be a fan of the forward.
Despite these developments, Foster believes that Liverpool should seriously consider signing Bowen. He acknowledges that while many fans may not see Bowen as their top target, he could be a shrewd acquisition for the Reds if given the chance.
“I’d love to see him with Liverpool because I think he would do an absolutely fantastic job,” Foster said on the Fozcast podcast. “He’s tried and tested, and you know he’s going to do the job.”
However, Foster also admitted that Bowen is not a direct replacement for Mohamed Salah. He noted that Liverpool fans might view the move as more of a sideways step rather than a progression. “They want the £90m player who plays for Inter Milan, who is up and coming, who is Brazilian, who is this and that. That’s what they want.”
On the topic of Bowen’s potential goal-scoring record at Liverpool, Foster agreed: “Agreed, totally agree. There are all sorts of players getting linked now, the merry-go-round has just started in fairness.”
Emotional Apology from Jarrod Bowen
After West Ham’s Premier League status was confirmed to be lost last month, Bowen took to Instagram to issue a heartfelt apology to the fanbase. His post reflected the deep sense of embarrassment and pain he felt.
“It’s hard to post something like this when all you’re feeling is embarrassment and pain,” he wrote. “I could write loads trying to explain where it all went wrong this season, but honestly what you deserve from me is an apology.”
Bowen also shared his personal reflection on the season, mentioning the high point of winning the Europa Conference League in Prague as the best night of his career. He contrasted this with the disappointment of the final matchday, stating, “Sunday was the worst. We just weren’t good enough. Simple as that.”
He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from fans, both at home and away. “To the fans, you didn’t let us down once. The support home and away never changed, even when things weren’t good enough from us on the pitch. We should have given you more. You deserved more.”
Bowen also emphasized the club’s resilience, stating, “One thing I know about this club is that it has the desire and fight to bounce back from this. This club belongs in the Premier League and deserves to be back there as soon as possible.”

Bowen’s current contract at the London Stadium is set to expire in June 2030. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
