Jaecoo J9: A New Luxury Hybrid SUV Making Waves in the UK and Potential Future in Australia

The Jaecoo J9, a luxury range-extended hybrid SUV from the Chinese automaker, has recently been reported to be approved for entry into the UK market. This development suggests that the vehicle could potentially make its way to Australia in the near future, generating excitement among car enthusiasts and potential buyers.

The Jaecoo J9 is closely related to the Chery Fulwin T11, which is currently available in China. In the UK, it will be marketed under the Jaecoo brand, but it is essentially the same as the T11 with some minor styling differences. This connection highlights the growing influence of Chinese automotive brands in global markets.

The Fulwin T11 was launched in China in 2025 and quickly gained attention for its impressive driving range of up to 1400km. This remarkable performance is made possible by its range extender hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine with one or two electric motors, depending on the variant. This setup allows for front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations, offering versatility for different driving conditions.

In terms of battery capacity, the Fulwin T11 offers two options in China: a 33.68kWh battery for the single motor variant and a 39.92kWh battery for the dual motor version. These batteries provide an electric driving range of up to 220km, making the vehicle an attractive option for those looking for a balance between electric and traditional fuel-powered driving.

The interior of the Fulwin T11 is just as impressive as its technical specifications. It is expected that the Jaecoo J9 will carry over this luxurious and tech-heavy interior design. The vehicle is quite large, measuring more than 5.1 meters in length with a wheelbase of 3.1 meters. It is a six-seater model with three rows of seating, featuring two captain’s chairs in the second and third rows. This layout ensures a spacious and comfortable environment for passengers.

One of the standout features of the Fulwin J11 is its 30-inch 6K LED display that spans across the dashboard. Additionally, a 17.3-inch screen is available in the second row for all but the entry-level trim. These high-tech displays enhance the overall driving experience and provide a modern feel to the interior.

While specific pricing and specifications for the Jaecoo J9 in the UK have not yet been announced, the slightly smaller Jaecoo J8 model in Australia starts at $49,990 drive-away. If the J9 does make its way to Australia, buyers can expect prices to start around $60,000.

CarsGuide has reached out to Chery Australia for confirmation regarding the arrival of the Jaecoo J9 and is still awaiting a response. This uncertainty adds to the anticipation surrounding the potential launch of the J9 in the Australian market.
