Mika Abdalla and Jake Short’s Relationship Ends
Mika Abdalla, known for her role in the popular show Off Campus, has recently announced the end of her five-year relationship with her fiancé, Jake Short. The 26-year-old Texan actress shared the news following increased public interest in her personal life.
A representative for Mika told Us Weekly on Monday, “Due to recent interest in Mika’s personal life, it would feel remiss to not address that she and Jake are no longer together.” The statement also mentioned that they continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms, while asking for privacy and respect.
Abdalla hasn’t posted about Jake on her Instagram account since November 20. Although the couple never officially confirmed their engagement, Jake’s manager, Brian Medavoy, wrote in a May 2025 Instagram post: “An awesome day yesterday celebrating the next chapter for my longtime client, Jake Short and his fiancée Mika Abdalla.”

A Love Story That Began On Set
Mika and Jake first met in 2021 on the set of Hulu’s teen comedy Sex Appeal, where they played onscreen couple Avery and Larson. Mika shared an anecdote about their initial meeting on The American High podcast in 2024. “I came over just to say hi, and we ended up talking, not about the script, just talking and getting to know each other for hours,” she said. “I was like, wait, this guy is actually really cool and sweet and great.”
Since then, their relationship has been a topic of interest among fans, especially after Jake appeared as a guest star on 9-1-1.
Working On Season Two Of Off Campus
Currently, Mika is hard at work on the Vancouver set of her Amazon Prime Video show Off Campus, filming season two. The series centers on her character Allie Hayes’ steamy romance with college hockey player Dean Di Laurentis, played by Stephen Kalyn.
“I truly love working with Stephen so much. We’re also very similar actors in our insecurities and doubts,” Mika gushed to THR last Thursday. “We’re not trying to find the characters anymore. We know these characters not only from portraying them, but also just from seeing fan reactions to the teasers or the trailer.”

A Growing Success For Off Campus
Last week, Louisa Levy’s critically-acclaimed romantic dramedy show made history as the third most-watched debut series by amassing 36 million viewers in its first 12 days. Off Campus is originally based on the popular new adult romance five-book series by author Elle Kennedy.
Mika shared that she knows so much more about Allie and these books than ever before. “It’s definitely going to be a lot less stressful this time around,” she added.
What’s Next For Mika?
As Mika continues to work on the second season of Off Campus, fans are eagerly awaiting what comes next. With her career on the rise and a new chapter in her personal life, Mika is poised for even greater success. Her journey from on-screen romance to real-life challenges is one that many will be watching closely.
