Vivo has begun revealing information about its upcoming X Fold 6 ahead of its launch in China. The company is presenting the device as more than just another foldable smartphone, with a strong emphasis on AI-driven productivity and large-screen experiences. Recent teasers and statements from company executives are giving a clearer insight into what users can anticipate.
OriginOS 6 Fold: A New Era for Foldables
According to Vivo, the X Fold 6 will come with OriginOS 6 Fold, an updated version of the software specifically tailored for foldable devices. This update includes a significantly improved version of Atomic Workbench, a feature first introduced with the X Fold 5. Rather than treating the foldable display as merely a larger smartphone screen, Vivo aims to use the software to help users manage complete tasks that involve multiple apps simultaneously.
The enhanced Atomic Workbench is expected to offer an improved “one screen, five uses” experience. Vivo claims that the interface now provides more usable screen space, better split-screen layouts, and smoother handling of multiple applications running at the same time. The company has also hinted at a completely new Workbench mode, although details are still being kept secret for now.
Customizable Workspaces for Enhanced Productivity
Users will be able to create dedicated workspaces for various activities such as meetings, travel planning, shopping, or investments. These workspaces can combine several apps into a single environment and be reopened later with a single tap. Vivo states that this approach minimizes the need to repeatedly switch between applications when handling more complex tasks.
The company has also confirmed upgrades to its AI assistant, on-device AI capabilities, and interaction methods. The software has been optimized at the system level, including improvements to task scheduling, chip resource management, and multitasking performance. This allows several apps and AI tools to work together more smoothly.
Expected Specifications and Launch Timeline
The Vivo X Fold 6 is anticipated to debut by the end of this month in China and potentially by next month globally. According to rumors, the device will be powered by the Dimensity 9500 chip, a 6,900mAh battery, and a triple camera setup consisting of a 200-megapixel (main) + 50-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 50-megapixel (periscope telephoto) configuration. It will also feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The rest of its specifications remain undisclosed.
