A standout asset in Wisconsin’s projected starting lineup

A Strong Foundation of Three-Point Shooting

Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball coach Greg Gard has once again assembled a team that excels from beyond the arc. With the addition of Miami (Ohio) wing Eian Elmer, the Badgers’ projected starting lineup now features five players who have proven their ability to shoot from long range. This group includes Owen Foxwell, Trey Autry, Eian Elmer, Austin Rapp, and Nolan Winter.

A Lineup Built for Scoring

CBS Sports national college basketball writer Isaac Trotter pointed out just how formidable this starting five is when it comes to three-point shooting. Last season, all five players attempted at least three three-pointers per game. Among them, George Washington transfer Trey Autry led the way with 6.4 attempts per game. Autry’s 38% shooting from beyond the arc ranks as the second-best among the starting rotation. The only player who outperforms him is Elmer, who shot an impressive 43% on 4.9 attempts per game last season.

Freshman Point Guard Adds Value

Foxwell, the incoming freshman point guard, also contributes to the team’s three-point threat. He shot 35% from distance on 3.8 attempts per game. His presence in the backcourt adds another dimension to Wisconsin’s offensive attack.

Experience and Confidence from Key Players

Rapp and Winter are well-known to Badger fans, and they have consistently shown willingness to take shots from outside. During the 2025-26 season, Rapp shot 36% on 5.3 attempts per game, while Winter was slightly behind at 33% on 3.1 attempts per game. Their experience and confidence from the three-point line will be crucial for the team’s success this season.
