A Rising Star in the Indian Premier League
Teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is making waves in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with his bold stroke-making and fearless approach to batting. At just 15 years old, the Rajasthan Royals opener is proving that his early success is not a coincidence but a testament to his exceptional talent.
Sooryavanshi has been one of the standout performers in the tournament so far. He has accumulated an impressive 357 runs at an average of 44.63 and a strike rate of 234.86. His scintillating 103 off 37 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur once again showcased his audacity as he faced top bowlers with unwavering confidence.
This is not the first time that Sooryavanshi has reached the three-figure mark quickly. Last year, he scored a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans in only his third IPL match. This time, it took him just one extra ball to reach the milestone at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Earlier this year, Sooryavanshi had already made a name for himself on the global stage. He played a crucial role in India’s U-19 World Cup victory in Zimbabwe, where he scored a breathtaking 175 in the final.
Praise from Cricketing Legends
Despite scoring a century in a losing cause, Sooryavanshi remained the talk of the town after the match. Many big names in the cricketing world have praised the young star for his talent and fearless nature.
Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin shared an anecdote about how his parents became huge fans of Sooryavanshi. Ashwin said:
“I watch every RR match with my Mom and Dad. Oh man, I am telling you, they are massive fans of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. My father has never admired a person as much as he admires Vaibhav. At every shot he screams out, ‘What a shot! Oh Amazing! What a Player!’ My Mom says ‘Look at those cheeks!’, and ‘Look at that celebration!’ She just loves watching the young kid.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins has declared that Sooryavanshi is his ‘new favorite player’. Cummins said:
“He’s my favorite player, to be honest. He hits it very hard. It’s fun to watch, it’s good to play. I think you have to be in the moment as a bowler because otherwise it’s going to go a long way.”
He added:
“He is impressive, and has been a fantastic start to his career. I like the way he plays, taking it on.”
England cricketer Sam Billings went one step further in his praise. Billings wrote on X:
“Is Suryavanshi the best 15-year-old ever to have played any professional sport? Just extraordinary. What he’s doing!!!!! We are watching Lamine Yamal level talent!”
SRH Chases Down the Target
Sooryavanshi’s brilliant century guided Rajasthan Royals to a massive total of 228/6 after being invited to bat first. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad chased the target down with nine balls to spare.
Half centuries from Ishan Kishan (74 off 31 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (57 off 29 balls) were instrumental in SRH’s victory. Abhishek Sharma also regained the Orange Cap.
Even though it was in a losing cause, Sooryavanshi’s knock was exceptional. He is a talented player who will undoubtedly achieve great things in the future. His performances in the IPL have already captured the attention of fans and experts alike, and there is no doubt that he will continue to make a significant impact in the world of cricket.
