My Ambition Unites Bauchi APC – Tuggar

A Vision for Bauchi State: Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar’s Governorship Bid

Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the immediate past Minister of Foreign Affairs, has officially announced his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State. His declaration marks a significant moment in the political landscape of the state, as he emphasizes that his ambition will not disrupt internal competition within the All Progressives Congress (APC), but rather enhance the party’s prospects in the upcoming election.

Tuggar made this statement on Saturday during a formal declaration event. He had resigned from his ministerial position in March 2026, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive that required political appointees seeking elective offices to step down in accordance with due process. The former minister stated that his decision was guided by the need to align with the president’s instructions and maintain integrity in his political journey.

During a visit to the APC secretariat in Bauchi ahead of his official announcement, Tuggar highlighted the importance of party loyalty and internal cohesion. “I approached the party office before moving to the declaration ground because the party is the first point of call,” he said. “As directed by the President, I resigned my position on March 31.”

Tuggar also shared his political philosophy, stating that whoever emerges as the party’s flag bearer, he will not take any fellow party member to court. Instead, he pledged to support and wish the person well. This commitment reflects his belief in unity and collective effort within the APC.

Developmental Challenges and Reform Plans

Tuggar’s governorship bid is driven by a desire to address the developmental challenges facing Bauchi State. These include poverty, unemployment, insecurity, and gaps in education and healthcare delivery. He emphasized that his administration would build on existing governance structures while introducing reforms aimed at improving economic performance.

Key areas of focus for Tuggar include agriculture, small and medium-scale enterprises, and solid minerals development. He believes these sectors are crucial for driving growth and creating employment opportunities. Additionally, Tuggar promised timely payment of salaries, improved market infrastructure, and rural development initiatives across the state.

On the issue of security, Tuggar outlined plans to strengthen collaboration between communities and security agencies. He also aims to enhance intelligence gathering and tackle underlying drivers of insecurity such as youth unemployment and drug abuse. “We will ensure that no farmer fears going to the farm, no trader fears the road, and no child fears going to school,” he said.

Education and Healthcare Initiatives

In the education sector, Tuggar proposed expanding access to quality education by addressing out-of-school children, improving teacher welfare, and promoting vocational and digital skills training for youths. He emphasized the importance of equipping the younger generation with the tools they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

In the health sector, Tuggar pledged to provide affordable primary healthcare services and strengthen social protection for vulnerable groups. His vision includes ensuring that all residents of Bauchi State have access to essential health services, regardless of their socio-economic background.

Governance and Inclusive Policies

Tuggar also outlined plans for transparency in governance, civil service reforms, and infrastructure development. He emphasized the need for inclusive policies that target women and minority communities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the state’s development efforts.

“This is not just my ambition; it is a collective mission to move Bauchi State forward,” Tuggar concluded. His declaration signals a new chapter for the state, one that prioritizes unity, development, and progress.
