Cyndi Lauper Takes on a Heckler During Las Vegas Residency
During the first night of her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, Cyndi Lauper found herself facing a disruptive moment when a member of the audience interrupted her performance. The incident occurred while she was introducing one of her classic songs, with the man in the crowd shouting something that wasn’t clear in the footage that later surfaced online.
Lauper responded with characteristic flair, saying, “I don’t know what the f you’re saying, hon. Please remember where you are, okay? Because if you’re trying to shade me, b*, I’m gonna come for you. I’m from Brooklyn.” Her bold retort was met with enthusiastic applause from the rest of the audience, who had gathered to enjoy the 72-year-old icon’s performance.
She continued with a lighthearted jab, adding, “And if I wanna fin’ talk, I will do a tap dance if I fin’ want. Sorry. That, of course, is not part of my people’s skills course.” This quip showcased her signature humor and confidence.
Following this moment, Lauper returned to her setlist with “Sally’s Pigeons,” a 1993 song inspired by a childhood friend who died due to a back-alley abortion. The emotional number highlighted her deep connection to her music and personal history.

Lauper began her Las Vegas residency on Friday at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace and will continue performing there through next Saturday, May 2. The schedule includes shows this Saturday, as well as next Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, with tickets still available for all upcoming concerts.
To promote the event, Lauper shared a lively Facebook video on Thursday, expressing her excitement: “We’re in Vegas. I can’t believe it! We’re here!” She hinted at some surprises during the show, saying, “I’m not gonna tell you. I’m excited! Come on down! It’ll be a night of Cyn! C-Y-N, yeah.”
Her current engagement follows the conclusion of her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, which ran from October 2024 through last August. The tour started in Montreal and traveled through 69 cities across North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan before wrapping up at the Hollywood Bowl.
Early in the tour, Lauper faced some online criticism after a viral clip of her performing in blue hair and a silver outfit to her 1985 hit The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough circulated. Some viewers commented, “WTF happened to Cyndi Lauper?” and others said, “She’s 71 for heaven’s sake. Quit already. You’re embarrassing yourself.”
However, many fans defended her, with comments like, “The same thing that will happen to you, age” and “Dude, she’s 71 years old. I hope I’m hopping around like that at 71.”
The final shows at the Hollywood Bowl were filmed for a CBS and Paramount+ special titled A GRAMMY Salute to Cyndi Lauper: Live from the Hollywood Bowl. Reflecting on the experience, Lauper said, “It wasn’t nerve-wracking that it was being filmed, but it does add a layer that takes you out of the moment.” She added, “There were a lot of places that we did not get to bring the Farewell Tour to, so I hope that this can make up for that. I want to share this moment with as many people as possible.”
