New 2L Laundry Sanitiser from Aldi Makes Washing More Affordable
Washing clothes is one of those household tasks that never seems to end. However, Aldi has introduced a change that could make this chore a little easier. Fans of the supermarket’s laundry sanitiser have recently noticed new bottles on the shelves, which are double the size of the previous version.
An Aldi spokesperson confirmed that the new 2L size is here to stay, with a price of $6.99. This follows the previous 1L size, which was priced at $3.99. The larger bottle offers better value for money, making it an attractive option for many shoppers.
“We know our shoppers value quality and convenience at low prices,” said the spokesperson. “That’s why we’ve doubled the size of the Di-San Laundry Sanitiser, giving Aussies more uses in every bottle at an ALDI price that works better for every budget.”
This move has been welcomed by many customers, especially those who use the product regularly. TikToker Mikaila Jae shared her excitement about the new size, stating, “So breaking news, Aldi has two litre bottles of laundry sanitiser now.” She added, “They only ever used to have the smaller one.”
Her post received numerous comments from users who also rely on the product, particularly for their sheets and towels. Many praised the product for its effectiveness in eliminating bacteria and leaving clothes smelling fresh.
As winter approaches, having a reliable laundry sanitiser can be especially useful. It helps reduce germs and bacteria, which can be beneficial during cold and flu season. While not necessary for every load of washing, some people have found it helpful in improving the smell of musty towels and even cleaning the washing machine itself.
Other retailers like Coles and Woolworths also offer their own brands of laundry sanitiser. One TikTok user shared her experience of using it for the first time last year. She had previously relied on vinegar but was impressed by the results. “Noticed instantly the laundry was smelling better and I clean my [washing machine] tub, my washing machine gets a deep clean. Took away all the smells,” she said.
Jewellery designer Laura from Mermaid & Bear explained how the product transformed her washing routine. “I’m a vinegar girlie, I love vinegar in my washing but [Coles Ultra laundry sanitiser] on your towels and sheets, I can smell my washing, it just smells clean, like cleaner than it did before. I feel like it’s stripped all the s–t off it.”
Fourth generation dry cleaner Zachary Pozniak provided insight into how to use laundry sanitiser effectively. In a TikTok video, he cited a study by academics at the University of Arizona, which suggested that laundry sanitiser does not need to be used daily and may not protect against viruses. He explained, “The only time you need to use a sanitiser is for specific illnesses like stomach flu, diarrhoea and that’s because these specific bacteria can live in our clothing for weeks and get other people sick.”
Pozniak also noted that laundry sanitiser should be used after clothes have been washed with a good detergent. While it isn’t necessary for killing all infectious illnesses, it can be effective in removing odour-causing bacteria. If you’re struggling with persistent smells in your clothes, towels, or sheets, trying a laundry sanitiser might be worth considering.
