RCB’s Struggles in IPL 2026
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team has faced some of their most challenging performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season. In a recent match against Delhi Capitals, the RCB bowlers delivered an exceptional performance, restricting the opposition to a meager total of 75 runs. This marked the lowest all-out score against RCB in the history of the tournament.
Lowest All-Out Totals Against RCB in IPL
Here is a list of the lowest totals that teams have managed to score against RCB:
- 58 – Rajasthan Royals (Cape Town, 2009, 2nd innings)
- 59 – Rajasthan Royals (Jaipur, 2023, 2nd innings)
- 75 – Delhi Capitals (Delhi, 2026, 1st innings)
- 82 – Deccan Chargers (DY Patil, 2010, 1st innings)
In 2009, Rajasthan Royals set the record for the lowest total when they were bowled out for just 58 runs in Cape Town. The following year, they again struggled, scoring only 59 runs in Jaipur during their second match of the season.
Delhi Capitals’ Disastrous Innings
Delhi Capitals entered the match with high expectations but faced a disastrous start. Their opening batting lineup crumbled under pressure, with several key players failing to make an impact. Sahil Parakh, making his debut, was dismissed without scoring. KL Rahul and Nitish Rana also struggled, managing only one run each. Sameer Rizvi was also out without scoring.
The main contributors to Delhi Capitals’ collapse were the RCB bowlers, particularly Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Hazlewood took four wickets while conceding just 12 runs, while Kumar claimed three wickets for only five runs. These performances were instrumental in keeping Delhi Capitals at bay.
Tristan Stubbs managed to score 5 runs, and captain Axar Patel was out for a duck. Abishek Porel was the only bright spot, scoring 30 runs from 33 balls. David Miller added 19 runs, while Kyle Jamieson and Kuldeep Yadav contributed 12 and 3 runs respectively. However, the rest of the batters failed to make an impact, and Delhi Capitals were all out for 75 runs in 16.3 overs.
RCB’s Dominant Response
RCB’s reply to the low total was swift and effective. They chased the target in just 6.3 overs, scoring 77 runs to win the match comfortably. Virat Kohli played a crucial role, scoring 23 runs off 15 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal remained at the crease for 13 balls, scoring 34 runs. Their aggressive batting ensured they reached the target with ease.
The Delhi Capitals’ bowlers, including Kyle Jamieson and Dushmantha Chameera, tried to maintain a tight defense, but RCB’s batsmen were too strong. Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya each took one wicket, while Rasikh Salam Dar claimed the final wicket of the match.
RCB’s Command Over the Match
From the very first ball, RCB maintained control of the game. Their bowling attack was disciplined and effective, while their batting line-up was efficient and aggressive. The victory further solidified their position as one of the strongest teams in the tournament.
This match highlighted the depth and quality of RCB’s squad, as well as the importance of a strong bowling unit in limiting the opposition’s scoring potential. With such performances, RCB continues to be a formidable force in the IPL.
