“This is huge”: Shoppers Uncover Big New Size of Aldi’s Beloved Laundry Product

New 2L Laundry Sanitiser from Aldi Makes Washing More Affordable

Doing the washing is one of those household chores that never stops, but Aldi has just done something that’s going to make it a bit more bearable. Fans of the supermarket giant’s laundry sanitiser recently found new bottles on shelves that are double the size.

An Aldi spokesperson confirmed that the new 2L size is here to stay, priced at $6.99 in a statement. The smaller 1L size was priced at $3.99, so in terms of value it’s an even better buy which so many of us are looking for right now when doing the grocery shop.

“We know our shoppers value quality and convenience at low prices,” said the Aldi spokesperson. “That’s why we’ve doubled the size of the Di-San Laundry Sanitiser, giving Aussies more uses in every bottle at an ALDI price that works better for every budget.”

So breaking news, Aldi has two litre bottles of laundry sanitiser now, according to TikToker Mikaila Jae in a video shared on the platform. “They only ever used to have the smaller one.” “You know I’m a fan, so this is HUGE! At @ALDI Australia,” she captioned the post on TikTok. The post has been flooded with comments from people who use and love it, with many saying they use it on their sheets and towels in particular.

Laundry sanitiser eliminates bacteria and germs, while leaving your clothes smelling fresh. With winter sickness fast approaching, it’s a really handy thing to have on hand. It’s not a necessary inclusion for every load of washing, although some people have claimed it can improve the smell of musty towels and even your washing machine.

Other places like Coles and Woolworths sell other brands of laundry sanitiser. One TikTok user shared her experience of using laundry sanitiser for the first time last year and while she usually used vinegar, it had her sold on the swap.

“Noticed instantly the laundry was smelling better and I clean my [washing machine] tub, my washing machine gets a deep clean. Took away all the smells,” jewellery designer Laura from Mermaid & Bear said on TikTok. “Quite shook because I’m a vinegar girlie, I love vinegar in my washing but [Coles Ultra laundry sanitiser] on your towels and sheets, I can smell my washing, it just smells clean, like cleaner than it did before. I feel like it’s stripped all the s–t off it.”

Fourth generation dry cleaner Zachary Pozniak explained what laundry sanitiser is and how to use it in a TikTok video. He cited a study by academics at the University of Arizona that showed laundry sanitiser doesn’t need to be used daily and that it also doesn’t protect against viruses.

“The only time you need to use a sanitiser is for specific illnesses like stomach flu, diarrhoea and that’s because these specific bacteria can live in our clothing for weeks and get other people sick,” he explained. Pozniak added that laundry sanitiser should be used after clothes have been washed with a good detergent.

While laundry sanitiser isn’t needed to kill all infectious illnesses, anecdotally it does seem to be useful for removing odour-causing bacteria. So if you are finding that you can’t get smells out of clothes, towels or sheets it might be worth a try.
