The MasterChef Australia Kitchen: A Journey of Talent and Elimination
The MasterChef Australia kitchen is a place where talented home cooks come together to chase their dreams and the coveted title. With only one contestant able to make it through all the mystery boxes and pressure tests, the competition is fierce and filled with high stakes.
This season promises to be an exciting one, with judges Poh Ling Yeow, Andy Allen, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli returning to bring their expertise, humor, and compassion to the show. Alongside them, celebrity guests such as Meghan Markle, Jimmy Barnes, and Maggie Beer will add an extra layer of excitement and inspiration to the competition.
With such a strong lineup, the standard of excellence in the kitchen is expected to be higher than ever before. But even with the best chefs, eliminations are inevitable. Here’s a look at the contestants who have been eliminated so far.
Episode 7 – Wednesday, April 29
In the season’s first Pressure Test, national treasure Maggie Beer challenged Jackie, Jeff, Pat, Luke, and Vinnie to master her iconic sour cream pastry. Contestants were given the freedom to create their own filling, sauce, and side dish, allowing for personal expression while still meeting the challenge.
Luke struggled with his pastry, which became overly wet due to adding too much liquid too quickly. Vinnie faced scrutiny over his gremolata accompaniment for a ragù and béchamel pie, which he had to rethink on the spot.
During the tasting, Luke impressed the judges with a rich Boeuf Bourguignon pie served with mash and horseradish sauce, while Pat delivered a chicken curry pie with mango chutney, apple, cucumber, and coconut salad. However, Jeff’s Hong Kong chicken pie with garlic chilli oil and Chinese broccoli failed to meet expectations, leading to his elimination.
Episode 6 – Tuesday, April 28
The remaining 23 home cooks faced an Invention Test, where they had to transform cereals into something magical. The challenge tested their creativity and imagination, with the five least impressive dishes facing elimination.
Dot wowed the judges with her “Trio of Corn Flakes,” using the cereal in meatballs, creamy polenta-style grits, and a crunchy pangrattato topping. Vinnie created a Coco Pops shell cannoli with Nutri-Grain ricotta filling, but the judges found the filling too grainy.
Casper stood out with his Froot Loops-inspired dish, using fried blue spirulina ravioli filled with fruit, served in a Froot Loops-flavoured panna cotta “milk.” His creativity earned praise from the judges.
At this stage, the judges were impressed by the overall standard, particularly Dot, Aaron, and Petro, who were named the top three performers of the day. Unfortunately, Pat, Jackie, Jeff, Luke, and Vinnie were among the five contestants who missed the mark and faced the next elimination challenge.

Episode 5 – Monday, April 27
The first elimination of the season featured a heartfelt theme, with teams creating dishes that reflected the judges’ own kitchens and homelife. Casper won immunity, but the rest of the 23 contestants had to compete.
Jackie’s shallot pancake was praised for its chili crisp and texture, but the absence of duck, which she couldn’t plate due to an injury, hurt her chances. Megs faced criticism for her uncooked prawns and lacklustre crostini, leading to her elimination.
As the competition heats up, more eliminations are expected. Casper has already received an immunity pin, marking him as a strong contender.
With the Top 40 now reduced to the Top 24, the race for the $250,000 AUD prize is well underway. Fans can tune in to MasterChef Australia on 10 or 10Play to follow the journey of the remaining contestants.
