MasterChef Australia: Those Gone From the Competition

A Glimpse into the MasterChef Australia 2026 Competition

The MasterChef Australia kitchen is a vibrant hub of creativity and talent, where passionate home cooks strive to achieve the ultimate goal of winning the prestigious title. With only one contestant able to make it through all the challenges, including mystery boxes and pressure tests, the competition promises to be intense and exciting.

This season brings back familiar faces on the judging panel, including Poh Ling Yeow, Andy Allen, Sofia Levin, and Jean-Christophe Novelli. Their blend of expertise, humor, and compassion continues to inspire contestants and viewers alike. Additionally, the show features an impressive lineup of celebrity guests such as Meghan Markle, Jimmy Barnes, and Maggie Beer, adding to the excitement and raising the bar for culinary excellence.

Episode 7 – Wednesday, April 29

In the first Pressure Test of the season, national treasure Maggie Beer challenged Jackie, Jeff, Pat, Luke, and Vinnie to master her iconic sour cream pastry. Contestants were given the freedom to create their own filling, sauce, and side dish, allowing them to showcase their personal style while adhering to the challenge.

Luke faced difficulties when his pastry became overly wet due to excessive liquid. Vinnie also encountered issues with his gremolata accompaniment, which was unclear whether it was a sauce or a side. He quickly adapted by using the béchamel as the sauce instead of inside the pie.

During the tasting, Luke impressed the judges with his Boeuf Bourguignon pie, while Pat delivered a chicken curry pie with mango chutney, apple, cucumber, and coconut salad. However, Jeff’s Hong Kong chicken pie with garlic chilli oil and Chinese broccoli fell short, leading to his elimination.

Episode 6 – Tuesday, April 28

The remaining 23 home cooks were greeted with a giant display of cereals in every shape, flavor, and color imaginable. For the first Invention Test of the season, they had to transform this humble pantry staple into something magical and delicious.

Dot, known for her enthusiasm, created a “Trio of Corn Flakes” that included meatballs, creamy polenta-style grits, and a crunchy pangrattato topping. Her creativity earned praise from the judges. Vinnie, on the other hand, made a Coco Pops shell cannoli with Nutri-Grain ricotta filling, which was not well received by the judges.

Casper stood out with his Froot Loops-inspired dish, featuring fried blue spirulina ravioli filled with fruit, served in a Froot Loops-flavoured panna cotta “milk.” His inventive approach was highly praised. Despite the overall high standard, Pat, Jackie, Jeff, Luke, and Vinnie were sent into the next elimination challenge.

Episode 5 – Monday, April 27

The first elimination of the season featured a sweet and heartfelt theme. Contestants were asked to create a dish that would reflect their own kitchens and homelife. Casper won immunity, but the rest of the 23 home cooks had to compete.

Jackie and Megs ended up in the bottom two. Jackie’s shallot pancake was missing the duck she initially intended to serve, which affected her chances. Megs’ prawns were uncooked, and her crostini lacked quality, leading to her elimination.

With the Top 40 contestants now reduced to the Top 24, the competition is heating up as they vie for the $250,000 AUD prize. Casper has become the first contestant to receive an immunity pin, marking a significant milestone in the season.
