2026 Mitsubishi Triton Raider Shocks Rivals with Lower Price

Introduction to the 2026 Mitsubishi Triton Raider

The 2026 Mitsubishi Triton Raider has officially been announced with a drive-away price of $74,990, marking it as the most expensive model in the current-generation Triton lineup. This price point is notably lower than off-road-focused versions of key competitors, making the Raider an attractive option for those seeking a premium ute without breaking the bank.

Based on the Triton GSR dual cab, which starts at $65,590 before on-road costs, the Raider represents Mitsubishi’s first step into the aspirational lifestyle-buyer market. The vehicle will be available across all of Mitsubishi’s dealerships nationwide by June 2026.

Key Features and Upgrades

Among the notable changes to the Raider are retuned steering and suspension systems, along with a specially chosen wheel and all-terrain tyre combination that was tuned and tested by Premcar, a renowned local engineering firm. These modifications aim to enhance the driving experience and provide better performance on varied terrains.

The $74,990 drive-away price of the Raider places it just below the Ford Ranger Tremor, which is priced at $75,090 before on-road costs. However, the Tremor comes equipped with a turbo-diesel V6 engine that offers more power and torque compared to the Triton’s 2.4-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine.

Using Ford Australia’s configurator and based on a private buyer in Sydney, the Tremor starts at $82,404 once on-road costs are added. Similarly, the Toyota HiLux Rugged X is priced at $78,117 drive-away for the same Sydney private buyer, according to the Japanese brand’s local configurator.

Mechanical Enhancements

In addition to its bespoke chassis tune, the Triton Raider features 18-inch ROH alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone all-terrain tyres. This setup helps widen the front and rear track by 20mm and increases ride height by up to 25mm, providing improved stability and clearance.

The Raider includes the standard GSR’s Yamaha horizontal damper system to improve noise, vibration and harshness. It should not be confused with the custom shock absorbers at each corner, which are tuned to match the Raider-specific springs.

Interior and Design Elements

As well as its mechanical upgrades, the Raider brings unique badging inside and out. It comes standard with a dark front garnish, side steps, and a sports bar with Raider-specific red highlights. The cabin remains largely unchanged from the GSR, except for Raider logos in the head restraints of the leather seats and a console-mounted Raider plaque.

2026 Model-Year Update

The Triton Raider arrives as part of a 2026 model-year update for the Triton lineup. This update sees a rationalised lineup with the previous entry-level GLX 4×2 manual dropped. The new starting point is the GLX 4×2 single-cab/chassis automatic at $37,090 before on-road costs, which is $40 less than the cheapest Ford Ranger, the XL Hi-Rider single-cab/chassis.

While the Ranger remains the top-selling vehicle in Australia for the first four months of 2026, Triton 4×4 sales were up 10.4 per cent year-on-year, while Ranger 4×4 sales dropped 7.4 per cent. Last month, Triton was the fifth best-selling ute after Ranger, HiLux, the Isuzu D-Max, and BYD Shark 6.
