Rumors of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia’s Future
There are growing rumors about the future of Channel Ten’s popular reality series, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia. The show, which has been a staple on Australian television for years, is now facing uncertainty after reports suggested that its return to the screen might be in jeopardy.
According to TV Blackbox, the US parent company of Channel Ten, Paramount, has reportedly decided to cancel the series. The publication claimed that budget cuts were the main reason behind this decision. This theory was further supported by recent changes to the show’s format. One of the most significant changes was the pre-recording of the 2026 season instead of airing it live, as had been the case since the show’s debut in 2015.
This shift allowed episodes to be filmed back-to-back, which helped reduce costs associated with accommodating cast and crew over an extended period in South Africa, where the Australian version of the show is filmed. However, this change also affected the audience experience, as the interactive elements that made the show engaging were diminished.
Julia Morris, who has been a key figure in the show, shared her thoughts on the new format ahead of the 2026 season. She noted that the changes created a range of interesting moments. “If you have to choose someone at work for a job that’s not as nice, how does that make them feel? Why’d you choose me?” she said.
She also highlighted the emotional rollercoaster that participants go through. “From paranoia to elation to so many different feelings when you have to sit side by side with someone, and they just put you in a trial that, you know, they know you don’t want to do.”

Despite these changes, the show still managed to conclude with a heartwarming finale in 2026. The winner was celebrated in a memorable event that showcased the spirit of the competition.

The Weekly has reached out to Network 10 regarding these allegations, and a spokesperson confirmed that no final decisions have been made. “Decisions regarding the 2027 program schedule, including I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, will be made in the coming weeks,” the spokesperson said.
It is common for networks to evaluate the performance of their shows and make necessary adjustments. For instance, last season, Australian Survivor underwent a change in hosting due to declining viewership. Similarly, the pre-recording of I’m A Celebrity episodes led to a drop in viewership numbers, as the audience interaction with evictions and challenges was altered.

Julia Morris has often emphasized the positive impact of the show. “More laughs every day are going to improve this planet,” she said, highlighting the importance of the program in bringing joy to audiences.
In addition to these developments, Robert Irwin, who recently joined the US version of Dancing With The Stars: The Next Pro, has become a notable figure in the entertainment industry. As a champion of the 2025 season, he captured the hearts of American audiences. Given his popularity, it is expected that Paramount would look to retain him for other hosting opportunities if I’m A Celebrity is indeed cancelled.
So far, Julia Morris, who has been the host of the series since its inception, has not commented on the potential cancellation. Similarly, Robert Irwin has remained silent on the matter.
