Club batter smashes Rabada for sixes, wins $1000 after Pietersen challenge misfires

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen found himself on the receiving end of a surprising challenge as a club cricketer managed to complete a demanding six-hitting task against Proteas fast bowler Kagiso Rabada.

The challenge, featured in a video released on Pietersen’s official YouTube channel, ‘KP The Switch’, was structured into three progressively difficult rounds. In each round, the participant had to hit sixes off Rabada’s deliveries, which were categorized as ‘easy’, ‘intermediate’, and ‘impossible’. The individual who successfully cleared the ropes in all three rounds would be rewarded with USD 1,000.

Initially, the challenge seemed manageable as Rabada delivered straightforward balls in the first round. Out of six participants, four managed to qualify for the next stage. Only three made it through to the final, ‘impossible’ round.

Dylan Shocks Rabada in Final Round

In the final round, Rabada increased the difficulty by using a variety of yorkers, slower bouncers, and wide deliveries to prevent the batters from hitting sixes. Despite the added pressure, a right-handed batter named Dylan stunned the crowd by hitting a six on the last ball, completing the challenge and winning the prize money.

Pietersen appeared taken aback at the outcome, while Rabada humorously apologized. “KP, I am sorry, man,” Rabada said after Dylan completed the task. At one point during the match, Rabada admitted he felt the pressure. “I have never felt this much pressure in my whole career,” the bowler stated in the video.

Rabada Continues Strong IPL 2026 Form

Although Rabada didn’t come out on top in this fun challenge, he has been performing exceptionally well in the ongoing IPL 2026 season with the Gujarat Titans. The fast bowler, currently one of the most formidable in the world, is among the top wicket-takers in the tournament, having taken 21 wickets in 12 matches. His consistent performance with the new ball has played a crucial role in the team’s success.

One of his standout performances came against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he took 3/22 and was awarded Player of the Match. Rabada emphasized the importance of giving his best for the team. “I just leave everything out there for the team. That’s as simple as that,” he said after the match.

He also highlighted the significance of maintaining rhythm and adapting to different conditions for fast bowlers in the shortest format of the game. His reliability with the ball has made him a vital player for the Gujarat Titans in their pursuit of the IPL 2026 playoffs.
