Arsenal Staff Frustrated by Cost of Travel to Champions League Final
Arsenal staff have reportedly expressed frustration after the club offered them travel to the Champions League final for £859. The decision has sparked mixed reactions among employees, with some feeling that the cost is excessive.
The Gunners will face holders PSG on May 30, marking just the second time in the club’s history that they have reached the final of Europe’s top club competition. As reported by the Telegraph, members of Arsenal staff who are not working at the final have been offered one non-transferable ticket. However, the club also provided chartered flight packages costing £859, with a message stating: “Space permitting, colleagues attending the final can opt to purchase a seat on these flights.”
This move has left many employees ‘dismayed’ by the price of the package, which includes a flight departing from Luton on the morning of the final and returning in time for a potential trophy parade on May 31. Those who choose to make their own travel arrangements may miss out on the parade, while some staff will be required to work during the event.

According to reports, around a third of staff accepted the ticket, while the remainder – who are not working around the final – have been given complimentary tickets to a screening of the final at the Emirates. This approach contrasts sharply with that of Arsenal’s opponents, PSG, who have offered to cover the cost of inviting all staff to the final at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.
The French giants repeated the offer made to their staff from last year’s final in Munich, where PSG secured a dominant 5-0 victory over Inter Milan. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi emphasized the importance of unity and belonging in a letter to staff, stating:
“Last year, many of you had the opportunity to be in Munich to support the team during the European final. It was a powerful moment that perfectly embodied the unity and sense of belonging that define our club. In that same spirit, it was important to me that all employees should once again have the opportunity to be part of this final stage of our European journey. We would like to invite all staff members to join the team in Budapest for this exceptional occasion.”
Arsenal’s Crucial Campaign
Arsenal is currently in a strong position to secure their first Premier League title since 2004. Mikel Arteta’s side is just two wins away from clinching the league, with the Gunners assured of winning the title if they beat both Burnley at home and Crystal Palace away.
Once the Premier League campaign concludes, the focus will shift to the Champions League final in Hungary’s capital city. The match represents a significant milestone for the club, and the way the staff are being treated has raised questions about the club’s approach to such high-profile events.
As the Gunners prepare for what could be a historic season, the contrast between their handling of staff travel and that of their rivals highlights the different philosophies within football clubs. While Arsenal’s approach may reflect financial constraints, it has also drawn criticism from those who believe that staff should be given more support during such moments.
With the final just days away, all eyes will be on the players as they aim to make history. But for the staff, the question remains: will they be able to share in the celebration?
